There is no "chip" to install or replace on the C5 as it has a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Body Control Module (BCM) which are sealed computers controlling the various functions of the engine and other systems. The PCM is programmable using third-party software as well as programmable and upgradable via the GM Tech II tool. Using third-party programs such as HP Tuner or LS1Edit you can custom tune the PCM to accomodate a wide variety of modifications including engine and drivetrain upgrades such as heads, cam, headers, superchargers, turbochargers, torque converters, lower-ratio rear gears, etc.
These custom programs will be overwritten if the dealer service tech flashes the PCM with an upgrade using the Tech II though.
