Default Outside Air temp gauge...HELP

My outside air temp goes up and down anywhere from 60 to 89 totally at random. It does go to those extremes linerally though. It doesnt skip around. Its like im driving to Northern Canada, and then back to Texas in just a minute. Any ideas? Thanx in advance.

All I can do is tell you where the sensor is. It's at the very front, passenger side of the radiator shroud. All the way at the bottom. Sound like you have a short in one of the wires. Good luck tracking it down. I hate chasing shorts. (electrical shorts. short shorts, on females, I love chasing.)

Bad sensor, very common problem. Mine has been replaced twice.

The problem with the sensor is that moisture gets into the contacts on the sensor. Sounds like it is starting to go bad. It is an easy "unplug the old one and plug in the new one". Lots of posts cover the details if you run a search. It's an easy DIY. The sensor costs about $8 from any dealer. The only problem you may run into is if the wires leading to the plug are too corroded to accept the new sensor. In that case, you will have to replace the plug by wiring in a new jack.

What i find kind of...weird...Is that this started as soon as i put the blackwing, and the CLB on....I mean, the day. Think i screwed something up? The CLB didnt work, still got the Pull key/ Service Column Lock. I dont think the Corvette' of Dallas CLB will work with my car. Its a 2000, but for some reason it wont work...Any way, i dont want to get into the CLB problem, i already have a thread up on that, but do you think that may have something to do with it? I did notice that there were two wires under the knee boards that didnt go anywhere...Had black plastic...(Pieces) and wires, but the wires were dangling. Any idea? Ill go and pick up the sensor...but i find it kind of convienent that it happend after the two installs. Also...I lowered it on stock bolts...And it looks AWESOME!!! Rubbing on everything, but what can you do!

You could have bumped it when you were installing the blackwing.

Errr... From your recent description, it sounds like you are talking about the INSIDE air temp sensor, which you would have come in contact with during your CLB install. ???
