BCM A/C Problem
My A/C started making noise a few weeks ago, also one day I felt some hot water (smelled it - H2O) hit my feet. Finally the A/C blower stopped working. I took the car in to a Chev. dealer; they said the blower blew out because it got wet, also I had them do the recall "steering lock/security" fix. They fixed the blower, and other associated corroded parts (over $800!). They told me that they charge $80/hr to find the leak (they gave me a place that would do it for cheaper). The next day the car would not start (security block, I know what it feels like; had a key go bad on me once). Took it back, they told me that the water had gone into the BCM and needed replacing (another $600), but I should get the leak fixed first. I took the car home took out the BCM, cleaned it good, and put it back. Worked great for a day, now works intermittently.
Now my questions for you guys (or girls) (I've read some of your posts, you guys are great!):
1. I think the leak is due to back-up of the A/C. I.e. water condensation not draining. Anyone know how to clean it out (also shouldn't the dealer have done this with the repair?)
2. Do you think the BCM is blown, or could it be another "short" somewhere else?
3. Where do I find a BCM? How much should I pay? I've searched and can't seem to find one.
4. Could the dealer have "screwed-up" the steering lock repair, causing the failure to start?
Thanks and let me know if I need to clarify anything...
Tony
