Default Installing Colgan Bra

Does anyone besides me have one of these bras?

Can someone tell me how the !*%$ these things go on.

I called and they say you "shoehorn" bra attatchments between body molding and fender well plastic!!! They say there are no bolts/screws to remove.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!!!!!!!!

Well, I don't have one for my Vette, but I did get one for my BMW. I put it on, fitted it, shut the hood and then when I went to open the hood to adjust the fit the hood cable broke. What a *&%^%( mess I wasn't at all happy with their product and returned it for a refund. I hope you have more luck with the Vette version. Sorry I can't help you.

I had one once upon a time, but don't remember how it mounted. I do remember that it left definite issues on the clear coat - my '98 was black, so every little thing showed. I threw it away and went with the GM bra that seems to work better.
I use some gaffers tape on the car under the bra just below the fog light openings to protect the paint since that seems to be a rub spot on my '01 and this particular GM bra (which is a new one).

Thanks for the feedback Allen. This thing seems very well padded. I don't think it will affect my highly waxed MSG paint job. Hope I don't have to find that trash can.

I called Calgon today and they seemed helpful. Saying they would send me a free installation tool and instructions. They also said they would email me the instructions....but no email.

Special thanks to Double Aught for his on going advice/help with this bra!!

Default Colgan Bra

Start by slipping the bottom and middle hard straps between the inner and outer fender. First one side, then drape the bra across the top of the bumper cover and the hood, then insert the straps on the other side. Hook the top straps in the small notch in the inner fenders. They will feel like they aren't secure, and may fall out. Don't give up! Next pull the bra down and hook the straps that go under the bumper cover. This will pull the sides taught. Two of the bottom straps go between the bumper cover and the nerf bars.

Two people was the key for me and it helps to leave it sit in the sun so it will stretch easier too.

Well, it's actually between the front bumper and the fender well liner. Put the shoehorn between them and then slip a tab between the bumper and the shoehorn.

Make sure the bra and surrounding temperatures are above 75 for the first time, the warmer the better. Bright, hot sun is your best friend. Once it's installed, let it sit out in the sun so it can "mold" to the shape of the nose.

I have used my Colgan bra on two C5s. The key is to get it really warm. In the winter I put it over the heat vent before putting it on the car. In the summer I put it in the sun. Just as others have told you, it will mold itself to your car. The first time on is the hardest. The only complaint I have is that the headlight covers want to come off, when the lights are up and the speed is 80+. I like the added protection this bra gives to the hood and pop up head lights. You do have to peel it down to open the hood with it on.
