I have had a tuning issue/fuel injector issue and the folks at TPIS said to take off injectors and send them to them and they will fix my problem...which is car has trouble running at idle when warmed up and has had short history of dumping gas into cat-converter at idle, which smells bad. They said I should start car and pull the fuse for the fuel pump and when car dies remove covers, 4 bolts on the fuel lines and then un-snap injectors from fuel lines. Is it this easy? There are two fuel pump fuses (one appears main and one appears to be a relay fuse) do I pull both or just one? will car start when I put back together even after I have bled the the fuel lines? I know to put the fuse back. Thanks for the help...I would like to do this tonight!
Yep, it's that easy! Dont forget that you have to unplug the injector wiring connectors on each injector and they must go back on the same injector. I recommend tagging them.
Thanks for the reply....they said the injectors could go back in any order...this is why I ask the ? before tear-down. Are you sure I need each injector to go back to its identical place? Thank you...I do not question your knowledge...I just have no knowledge myself!!!!!
NO,, just the wire connectors need to go back in the same place! The Injectors are not a problem. They are all the exact same, and can be mixed up and put back in any hole.
It kind of like spark plugs. If you remove all of the plugs, you can clean and regap them and stick them in any hole. The spark plug wires have to be matched to the cylinder that they go to!
Got the injectors out(they did have some grime on them) and off to TPIS. Thank you for the help! I hope I can put back together correctly and solve my problem!
Upon reassembly it helps the injector "O" rings seat and seal properly if you apply a little silicone "LUBRICANT" on the "O" rings. Dont use too much. All you need is a little! They slip right in.
