Greetings,
I picked up the titanium mufflers and will be installing them within a week. I have not removed the stock mufflers and was wondering if I can re-use the gaskets from the stock mufflers or should I buy new gaskets? I'm just not sure if the old gaskets can be removed without damage.
Thanks,
Shortimer
The stockers are the best I've seen believe it or not and I've been able to reuse them several times without leaks when I've switched exhausts. Your's probably can be reused if they're in decent shape. I forget what the dealer charges but they're something like $7 apiece I think. They're tougher than what I've found at parts stores typically though because they are steel-reinforceed compared to the straight composites. I'd buy a set to be safe. Nothing sux more than having to run to the parts store with the car in the air during a project.
Thanks. I'll make a run to the GM dealer on Thursday and see if they have the gaskets in stock. They give me a small discount for belonging to a Corvette club. Every little bit helps.
That's what I did. I bought a new set. I found the dealers did not stock them, so if you run into a problem you may not be able to get new ones unless you plan ahead. I put the new ones on and saved the old ones. Good luck with the installation, I know I really like my Ti system. Wonder if the Z06 folks realize what they are selling
when I had my kooks and GHLs bolted on, the dealer installed them when the car went in for a re-ring at 12500 miles. They reused the stock gaskets from the orginial exhaust. I picked up the car from the dealer yesterday for the 3rd time (within 2000 miles) after the drivers side exhaust leaked where the long tube flange meets up with the cat back flange. This time they put in a new stock gasket. The car sounds so right with no leaks and sounds so cheap and sick with an exhaust leak. spend the extra couple of bucks.
