I was looking through the Mid America online catalog and came across a description for a Masterlube Pre-Lubrication System for $329.99. Supposedly builds oil pressure after 4 or 5 seconds of flicking a switch. This product is supposed to oil the engine up prior to starting it, where over 80% of wear occurs. I'm surprised that I haven't heard more about this type of item on the forum since alot of our Vettes are highly modified and tend to sit for long periods of time. I'm wondering if it is a good item and how difficult/easy is installation. Anyone with experience please chime in.

I don't have experience with this pre-oiler per se....however, the 6000hp diesel engines I work with will not start unless there is proper pre-lube pressure and it seems like a good idea to me for a car sized engine as well.
Seen one installed on horsepower TV, it uses compressed air for a pre-oil, the oil shoots thru the filter housing and primes the system with a quart or 2 of oil. would not hurt I guess.
Sounds like a very good idea, but your average car engine will run easily over 100,000 miles and sometimes much much more with regular maintanence so what would be the point? I dont usually keep a car for more than 50-70K miles anyway. For very high HP engines then maybe it would make sense.
An Accusump can be used to do the same thing, plus protect you in the event of oil pressure drop. Us track guys use them to prevent oil starvation in high G turns.

Problem is where to mount it in a Vette....in the HPTV installation they mounted it on the tunnel behind the shifter...not a usable place on the Vette. It has to be readibly accessable and the unit is rather large...holding over a quart of oil.

That could be a problem. I wouldn't want to add anything cumbersome nor additional weight to the car.
