Default ABS Help

I was on here last week about an ABS problem with my 98 vette. I am getting code 1233 RF Wheel Speed Sensor open or short. I have checked the connection at the wheel side, disconnected it, blew it out and reconnected it with no change. I have had the same problem intermittently for years with the car. However, in the past it would always go away with a reboot. Could someone tell me where the other end of the cable is connected so that I can check that end for a loose fit??? Sorry for the dumb question, and I do appreciate the help. VOTE!!!!

I have a 98 and enjoy it very much! I also have the factory manual and would like to see if I can help you figure this problem out.

Here goes:

Your car could have a front OR rear mounted Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM). The rear EBTCM will be mounted on the rear end of the differential and the front one will be in the eng compt on the drivers side infront of the engine. You can locate it by all of the hydraulic lines attached to it!

Each of the wheel sensors go to the EBTCM. There is a connector at each wheel (as you have already checked) You can unplug the EBTCM connector and check the wires that go from that connector all the way to the sensor! The pins that you are looking for on the EBTCM the RIGHT FRONT WHEEL are Pins 14 & 30. The LEFT FRONT is 15 & 31, Left Rear = 12 & 28 and the Right Rear = 13 & 29. I listed the other wheels so that you can compare readings if you like.

Disconnect the connector on the EBTCM . Check each pin 14 & 30 on the EBTCM connector to ground .You should NOT read anything to ground! Between the pins 14 & 30, you should see 850 - 1350 ohms.

If all of this is good, the sensor and wiring is more than likley good.

Please check all of this and let me know how you make out.

Bill,

Thanks a ton. You are a saint. My car is an early 98. It was built in January 98. It is kind of rainy here in Dallas this week. I will check it out this weekend when the weather clears up.

Mine was an early 98 as well. Your EBTCM will be in the rear at the end of the differential. My main computer is dead and I am on my laptop. When I get my computer back I will take a digital photo of the schematic and send it to you so you can reference the schematics while troubleshooting.

The photos will look like this: [IMG][/IMG]

These are pictures of the GROUND DISTRIBUTON SYSTEM. These will come in handy at a later date!
