Default Cutting radiator shroud with Halltech Stinger

Just installed mine last night. Noticed the whole backside of the filter pretty much just lays right on the radiator shrowd, which to me looks like wasted filter surface area.
I DID do a search but coudn't find the link where somebody actually added a scoop of sorts to the backside of the shroud. Can someobody please link that for me?

04 Z16. Just did the PCM relearn and havent' driven it yet. Seemed to idle a little rough, but no codes.... knock on wood.

Thanks!

Dan

Thanks, Brian! I hope to have some more how-tos, as well as different shift ***** and other "stuff" in this site in the future.

Wow! Great how to, looks like you spent some time putting that together. I did the same thing, kind of.My whole system cost about $80 including the filter(large K&N filter for some model Chevy truck) and alum diamond plate. My filter actually sits through the hole in the rad shroud. Iam still thinking of adding a scoop on the bottom and or a lid over the top of the filter to stop warm air from entering the filter from engine bay.

Nice job! The scoop I initially machined a scoop out of PVC, but decided to try the unbreakable "wall pocket" that was recommended by another Forum member. When I asked him how durable it is, he told me that has taken his car up to 175 and the scoop held like a champ, so I documented my experience. Since your filter extends down into the airstream, you probably don't need a scoop. After some stop and go driving, check the airbridge; if it's cool to the touch, your mission is accomplished.

Matt, that is pretty creative. Nice way to avoid the "Corvette Tax" I wish I was that ingenious

BTW, I would recommend that you put a hood seal (Home Depot tubular weather stripping will work) on your front facia where the hood closes. Water can get in through there, and while it probably won't be enough to ever cause a problem, these exposed filters are more susceptible to water ingestion. It is better to be safe than sorry, and at the very least, it helps keep out dirt and grime.
