I've never had a single problem with it until last night. It only has 14k miles on it. It was warmed up, and I had a friend with me, and i punched it just through 1st gear. I let off in 2nd, and got to the next redlight, and it started idling funny. My first thought was bad gas. It indeed may be, but I'm not thinking so. It started getting off and on after driving. It'd cut out under acceleration (think bad plug wire type of response), then it'd be fine for a mile or so, then cut out again, etc. I didn't have to floor it for this to happen. I could be cruising in 6th gear at 80mph, and it'd start hesitating. Then it'd be fine for another couple of miles, then do it again. Weird stuff. I'm about to take it in to get it looked at. Any ideas? When I'd take off from a light, I had to gas it and slip the clutch pretty heavily or it'd die. That was just about every time. At idle, it'd sound fine, and then start "camming" (hahaha) for no reason, then stop.
*No codes were ever thrown*
Bad converter? Maybe it blew out and there's a chunk floating around in there? I'm clueless.
Unbelievable.....I post in off topic, and i get two pages of replies in less than an hour. I post here - in tech and performance - and i get no replies - not even ideas - in hour*s*.
Check the air filter all the way up to the throttle. I had the samething happen to me and had a leak, the accordion was loose. I come to stop and it would die.
If you have "NO CODES" then it could very likley be a bad, loose or defective wire or plug. Secondary ignition will not set a code unless you have a DEAD MISS. You will get a PCM P0300 code if the miss is bad enough. If you have a random miss on one or more cylinders, you may be able to see the "CHECK ENGINE" light flash or come on as long as the miss is happening and then go back out..
I recommend checking each wire and plug for damage. Stock OEM wires should read in the range of 250-750 ohms. Most will read 320-350 ohms. Check the insulation and boots for cuts burns or tears. Check each spark plug.
I had the same exact symptoms on my 02 ZO6 and this is what I found!
Oh yeah Ryan..I just had my #7 plug work its way loose and the plug boot had a crack in it which caused a similar problem...its either that or an air leak but my money is on a bad wire possibly arcing..in my case you could see it even during the daytime...I was glad I saved a good wire from my old set when I nstalled the new ones which I managed to somehow F up which caused the problem....good luck man
