While my C5 was in getting some warranty work done, I ok'd them to do what I thought was the column lock recall fix. From reading other posts, I'm not sure what exactly was done. Today, after two attempts to pull the car in the garage after it completely shut off, I got the message - 'Pull key wait 10 seconds'. Did this and the car ran just fine.
The dealership invoice reads.......
V1153 install harness kit
1 89023816 harness k
1 26056108 nut
part # 89023816
I take it I still need to buy the DIY column lock bypass kit.
I got the same "Pull key wait 10 secs" from the Dic
I had been to the parts counter to get a part and came out, hopped in and turned on the key, punched in a cd to listen to while I checked out my new part. Trying to leave the car died about 5 times before I noticed the Dic message, the problem hasen't happened again for about 5 months.
I don't think it has anything to do with your column bypass.

So my 'pull key wait 10 seconds' is not column lock related??
If you recvd. the message once, and all is o.k. now, don't sweat it. I'm assuming you have an automatic.. When you shut the car off and pull the key out of the ignition, do you hear the CL lock motor assembly now? You should not.

I have a 6 speed. Never paid any attention to hear a lock motor sound when I pulled the key out. Just the sound of the steering wheel retracting out of the way briefly.

You have a 6-speed and they installed a Harness-K.. MmmmmKaaayyy..
Here's an easy test.. Park the car, remove the key from the lock.. Can you turn the steering wheel, yes or no?
If you have a 6 speed. I don't think they should have installed a K harness. The recall for a 6 speed only involves reprogramming the BCM. And the lock should still function after the recall procedure is complete.
If you lock mechanism is not functional. You can either consider yourself lucky or unlucky since you got the best fix done for fee but, you should not let your insurance company know this because they will probably raise your rates since your car is now more accessable to thieves.
