Default help-clutch freeplay

I have a 99 and about 2 months ago the clutch pedal didn't come back with as much force as usual for about 1 second (felt like there was less spring force to return it, but it did return on its own). It's done this 2 or 3 more times since.

I have also noticed about 1-1/2" of freeplay when initially pushing on the pedal before I get any resistance. Not sure if this was always there and I'm just more sensitive to it now??

2 weeks ago I was under the car and noticed that a bolt going into the bellhousing is completely undone and only being held in by the passenger exhaust pipe (if the pipe wasn't there, it would have dropped out).

Question...could this bolt have something to do with the clutch? Any other ideas?

thanks

more then likely no. sounds like sooner then later you will have the pedal sticking to the floor problem yourself. I had this exact sequence of events right before my pedal started sticking. Does your pedal get harder to press in after it doesnt want to return quickly too?

The bolt isn't the issue, it just holds the bellhousing inspection cover on.

I actually had the same exact issue when I was doing my clutch change, 2 bolts were completely backed out and resting on the header. I reinstalled them with loctite.

You can try to bleed the system and flush out all of the old fluid. Thats about all you can do. It might help and than again it might not, but it wont cost you any thing but time to try it.

I am getting the dealer to fix the bolt tomorrow (was from previous warranty work). I will bleed the clutch and read up on the pedal sticking issue that TT Vert mentioned, although I didn't notice it being harder to press in after it didn't want to return.

Is the inital 1-1/2" clutch freeplay normal??

thanks for the input.

Replace it all to 04 Z06 hydrolics. This is a common problem on older Vettes. I just got my LUK stage II clutch with Z06 hydrolics (Also remote bleeder). This is the ONLY way to fix your problem.

i dont think its normal and im pretty sure its not a bleeding issue. After a hard run my pedal will have this freeplay and if i pump the pedal that inch or inch and a half about 10 times, the distance gets shorter. See if yours does the same.
