On the directions I got through number 8 which says to remove the access panels and I don't see how that was suppose to help. I can't get at anything better then before.
Also instruction 9.
Is there a way to get the wiring thats hooked to the air defleters by plastic clips unhooked without breaking those plastic clips? I've broke 2 already.

Those directions are no help. They just said that you can get the wire harness without breaking the clips. Well 2 out of the 2 that I tried to take off I've broke and it looks like the only way to fix them is to take apart the wiring and put new one in it.
If anyone plans on doing this install themselves I would highly recommend paying someone else to do it. Pain in the a__! I could have installed 2 Vortex Rammers by now.

If you look at the pic below, you can see that the clips snap into the holes in the deflector/shroud. The clips need to be compressed before you pull them out or they break (as you found out).
The reason to remove the acess panels is to make it easier to get to the outer screws that hold the shroud and the turnsignal housings. I installed my VaraRam with no problem, but then, I've had my front fascia off before and knew what everything in there looked like so there were no surprises.
I know that they need to be compressed but its hard to get my hands in there and get them compressed. I was even trying to use needle nose plyers. I might just break them all and go buy some new ones and use electrical tape to tape them were they are.
My harness was so taut that the clips were practically redundant. There's nowhere for the harness to go as it ends at the turn signal housings. I wouldn't sweat it one way or the other and it's not like it's going anywhere. Replace the clips with wire ties and you'll be good to go.
Thanks Patches. Thats kinda what I was thinking. I have plastic ties I can use. I don't know if its because mine are old since my car is a 1997 or if they are just a b_tch to get out. But the wires are still pretty tight. I believe there are only 2 on each side that have to come off and as of now I broke 1 on each side. But still I don't like to break things and I was losing my patience so I took a break for the night. I'll finish it later.
i squeezed mine out of the hole from the top and pulled at the same time came out real easy
i was wondering the same thing about the access panels as well
i got my fog lights out by turning the head lights up and inserting a socket with an 8 inch extension
I used a small pair of needle nose pliers - just make sure you're actually squeezing the 2 little ears on the clip and it'll pop right out with no effort. If they break, just wire tie 'em.
Actually if you have help you can manuever the covers around enough ,once loose, to get to the backside of the clip with pliars through the bumper cover....I didnt break any of them and sure did save some cursing in the garage
I was thinking about installing it myself as well. But still debating if I should or pay someone to do it. I live in CA and nearby Corvette shop, WestCoast Corvette, installs it for $240 (4 hours to install). I'm sure you all have heard or visited their web sites before but is $240 resonable? Not to mention the price of Vararam which is $350. :P

Does anyone know cheaper place to install?
4 hours seems pretty steep to me. I'm sure if I did the install again I could easily do it in under 2 hours. I think you're getting ripped off...
Sorry, don't know of a cheaper shop in this area offhand...
As a side-note, don't assume that you can buy those broken clips separately.. That's what I did with (similar) clips that tie the rear wiring harness to the rear sub-frame, when I did my gear swap. Found out the hard way that they only come with a complete wiring harness.. I had Gene send me some replacements (which was very cool, since he didn't even charge me, great guy); only problem is he cut them just like I did, so they were of no use! I just used some HD tie-raps, which turned out to be better / more secure / looked like factory install in the long run anyway..
