HELP! My 97 w/F-45 suspension has failed. It feels like riding on marshmellows now. No codes are stored. What could be wrong? The DIC did give a suspension inoperable message when it failed.
I can't help much, but I've read that when it fails...it will always set the shock valving to end up in the softest setting automatically.
I've got the F-45 option also. I'm dreading the day when my shocks are toast! New shocks run about $400 each, I've heard!
Ouch!!
Good Luck!
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your suspension. If you do determine that your shocks have failed, I do have a set of shocks off of my '01 that I'm selling. Good luck

Go to the dealership and ask them to find the problem. If they find the problem is an expensive one and you are not under warranty, you can have them shut off the F45 controller so you can install any shocks on the car you like.

Does this apply to any model year with the F45 option??
True. I'd just like to add that I took the F45 shocks off and installed some coilovers for better handling. You can change the shocks to Bilsteins or '04 Z06s for better handling. I just offer the F45 for someone who wants to stick to the stock setup.

Just another option, if you shocks are shot, you can upgrade to the F55 magnetic suspention. I saw that all cars originally equiped with F45 can be upgraded. Don't know the cost though. Check out GM performance website for addt'l info.
You can aslo have your F45 setup rebuilt for not too much money. A while back, someone was GIVING AWAY a F45 system to anyone who wanted it... so check the forum parts for sale section to see if that is still available.

That would be an expensive upgrade... The F55 was a $1500.00 in '03. If you thought the F45 shocks were expensive, the fluid in those shocks is rumored to be $800.00/quart!
