i was driving my car on my way home from work when i got this reallll loud grinding noise, like a metal to metal grinding coming from the back of my motor...i checked everything and cant seem to locate the problem... anyone have any idea of what this might be ????
When the starter motors, does it sound normal? If not check for a loose starter.
Put it up in the air (the car), take a long piece of thin rubber hose and use it as a stethoscope to pin point the noise with the engine running. A drill bit in the end of the hose is a good thing.
just took my car outta the shop stuck me with a $1150 bill, the problem was the drive shaft..they replaced it all is good now... thanks for your input guys
What did they say the issue was with your driveshaft? I am trying to think what the metal on metal grinding noise would be but can't think of anything. Were your bushings out? Kaley
I just had my Torque Tube replaced. The metal sound you were hearing was probably due to the bushing disintegrating, leaving the pins to contact each other. It gets ugly. There are some pics on this board. Search for Torque Tubes.
