High Stall question - what to expect?
Thinking of dropping in a stall at around 2600-2800 and I am curious about daily driveability.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, EG
I went with the 3.42 because I spend time on the highway and didn't want the car to rev that high. The 3.73's will help tighten up the converter, so it drives closer to stock (which it sounds like what you want).
Under normal driving, it does take a little more pedal, but that's expected of a "looser" converter, but once again, it's not a bad trade off for the performance that it gives back. The whole thing with converters is that there will be trade offs over stock, and you just have to figure out what you're willing to live with. Higher STR (stall torque rating) will tighten the converter, but shock the tires when flashing the converter, or lower STR (like mine) will be easier on the tires (good for street tires, street driving), but feels looser. Once again, it's finding out what you can live with. I recommend finding someone in your area with a converter and going for a ride with them.
I have NO problem with spirited driving with this converter, but if you got something like mine, a 3.73 would help out with that.
I think that if you go with a PI (Vigilante) 2800 and a 3.73, it'll have the driveability of stock with all of the performance of a stall converter and would be a Great DD set-up for you. Good Luck!

On the positive side I'm getting 1.62 60' at the strip!
