Default Plug boot burning

Ok, WTF..I have had the TPIS LT on my car for over 2 years and have been using MSD wires never a problem..until last month...for some reason now the back plug wire on the driver side keeps coming in contact with the header and burning thru. Why all of a sudden??

Has the boot expanded from heat (or possibly oil)? I have MSD and QTP headers and I know a couple of mine are real close. I have been watching them as well wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get some Kool Sox.

this is typical of the number 7 plug wire. I have the FLP's and had the same thing happen. Not alot room between the plug boot and the header. You just have to watch and wait

After burning two Magnecor number 7 wires against my TPIS LT's, I went back to the GM High Performance "Red" wires. Take a measurement (ohms) between any high performance LS1/LS6 wire set and the GM set. You'll be surprised! The longest wire in the set is under 9 inches long! I actually found the GM High Performance wires lower in overall resistence. The GM boots are really designed well for the LS1/LS6 motors.

That's what I have, with the factory heat sheilds. They work fine.

Sounds like you need a set of Kool-Sox wire protectors.

Where do you get these protectors? I'm going to replace my GM wires with another set of GM wires and I'd like to protect them from the extream heat our engines put out.

Most forum vendors that carry plugs and wires should have them. I know that West Coast Corvettes has them, part # 11127501.
