How loud are headers?

Over all as long as I'm not standing on it...it sounds great!
Just go for it...however I heard that shorty headers really aren't worth installing.
Good luck!
This is a great forum, great members and great information shared here.
I am more concerned about the actual noise coming from the engine bay as c5freak noted.
I plan to add a nice sounding cat-back exhaust like a Borla or Corsa, so I do want that aggressive sound. I just dont want to add headers and have the engine bay sounding like its a containment field for minature firecrackers, of which I've heard other types of cars sound like with headers.
However long tube headers because they are thinner than stock manifolds, will transmit more valvetrain noise.
This is my experience as well, at idle I do hear the valvetrain the the cabin when the radio is off. I also have a huge cam so that adds to the noise. If it became bothersome I am sure the exhaust wraps they sell for headers would quiet that down.Even with the headers, cam, and no cats above idle the sound inside the car is fairly close to stock. I chose exhaust cut outs from QTP over a cat back, this way I can chose when to make noise
