I slid the mirror off it's mount and applied teflon tape, the kind the put on air and water fittings.
I stretched the tape around the fitting that is glued to the windshield and slid the mirror back on. The teflon tape is very thin and the mirror still fits, just snugly, with the tape insulating the metal to metal contact. No more vibration.
That buzz was the ONLY noise in my Z06 it drove me crazy.
Now if I could just get my 67 to keep from creeking, ratteling, shaking, vibrating, smelling of gas and exhaust.
does anyone have a fix for the extra noisy bouncing rear view mirror mines about to drive me nuts
My original mirror in my 99 did that and used to drive me nuts. Found one of the newer chromatic mirrors on ebay along with the harness to fit my 99. Have not had any problem with the new mirror, and like the chromatic feature at night.

Reason: fix my lousy spelling
If it is the old style, it has a screw, just try tightening it.
The new style has a clip-on.
Take off the mirror and with a flat head screw driver pry out the clip just a hair. slip the mirror back on, it should be tighter and harder to get back on.
I went from the old mirror to the new auto dimming mirror. Both of them were loose so I tried the both mentioned above and they stopped most of the "haze" you see in the mirror.
