A faint chirping/squeaking noise when I decelerate is the topic here. I'm pretty sure it is my tensioner pully, but out of curiosity is there any history of driveshaft/outputshaft squeaking noises at all?
Also, I'd like to change my tranny fluid (M6) How do you fill it up after you drain it? Do most of you use synthetic?
Autozone and Advance Auto Parts sells a fluid bag (Its kind of like an IV bag) that you can load up with your fluid of chioce and squeeze it into the tranny! There is a fill plug on the side of the MN6 /MN12 tranny that you remove and add the fluid until it starts to run out of the fill port.
I highly recommend using a synthetic ATF for the manual tranny. It improves the shift feel a lot!
I saw that someone was using "redline" fluid. Is this a good choice? Also, I am suprised that you actually put automatic transmission fluid in our manuals.... does GM make an M6 "manual trans fluid" of sorts? Thanks for your advice I'll look around for one of those fill bags!
All C5 MN6 and MN12 (ZO6 Manuals) use ATF tranny fluid! GM has it own specific ATF. Redline, AMSOIL, Mobil 1 synthitic ATF are all very good up-grades! I was surprised to!
PLEASE do not put motor oil or 90 weight in the trans! You will destroy it!
ok cool, thanks Bill. I think I'm going to go with some Synthetic mobil 1 ATF - maybe I'll do that tomorrow even if I get bored... I'm just curious what fluid do you run in yours?
