E-Brake/Idle Problems on Used 2000 C5
I have a 2000 C5 and at a stop light or from a standstill,
taking my foot off the gas has no effect, the car does not
roll at all.
My chevy dealer said the brake was adjusted properly
and had no other suggestions.
Any Ideas on what would keep it from rolling forward?
thanks guys, I am kinda new to this Corvette thing, I am a new F-body convert. The car runs great and is in excellent shape and
of course I am fixing her up with some minor mods, 18/19s, new rubber and some nice touches.
thank you!

What is your idle speed when the trans is in Netural and while in Drive?
Do you have any kind of warrenty? If so keep complaining. Could be a torque converter problem. You got the car used and I am wondering if you might have an aftermarket high stall converter.
Check into that before you start having the dealer rip into it. I have all manual cars and do do much with automatics.
Just a thought!

I did mean the brake, like at a light, it is almost as if the car is on a slight incline...just no idle roll. It doesn't creep forward like my Trans am did or any other automatic I have driven.
I think maybe something is grabbing, rear brakes, etc.
I have no warranty, but the car only has 39k on it and was serviced regularly at the same dealer. The car is very fast, and drives fine otherwise.
I will check that idle RPM in neutral and drive and repost...
thanks

My thoughts exactly

You can drive the car to a flat level area. Get the car to do the condition that you stated, shut it off, put it in netural with the E brake off, get out and while standing in the drivers side with the door open, PUSH IT! I can just about push mine with one hand! It should roll easy! I would roll it far enough to get 2-3 tire revolutions just to make sure that nothing is position sensitative.
If it rolls easy, I would rule out the brakes dragging.

10 minutes, Drive and Reverse both brought idles of .75 RPM
with a shift back into park or neutral just under 1000 RPM
there are no other mods done to this car, I am not sure why he would have installed that stall converter.
Could a vacuum problem be causing this? or a hung e-brake?
thanks!

They replace pads on the front and took the calipers off to paint them, and said other than the rotors being purple (from high heat) they were fine. Could this still be the rear brakes catching when the car is rolling?
thanks!

It sounds like the pins that the calipers slide on are NASTY! There are two pins per caliper and the rubber boots that protect each pin has to be in good condition. I recommend removing each caliper and cleaning each pin and the well in caliper with carb cleaner. You MUST use the correct type of special synthetic caliper grease on the pins or this will happen again! NAPA sells it as does AutoZone and advanced auto parts.
You could also have pistons that are getting stuck in the calipers. You can yse a pry bar to pry on the caliper and chove the pistons all the way in the calipers. then pump them back out. Do this 4-5 times and see if that helps.
My bet is it is just the caliper pins causing the caliper to hang up! Been there!
