Default >>>Hazard Switch is a Hazard

I tired to use my hazards (four way flashers) the other day and they don't work quite right. The switch will not stay engaged (or pushed down). Reading my manual says I have to take out the entire dash to replace this switch?&**\\#^#@^&. You have got to be kidding!
Does anyone know if this is true? Can I get away with removing radio/climate control and reach up from there?
It appears that the AC vent that the switch is next too is screwed into the dash from inside.

Yep you will have to remove dash to get it out. Its part of the vent. I have one if you need it. I had to remove my dash to replace on of the passanger vents. Dash is not really hard to remove just have to remember where all the screws go.

Relax, it's not that big of a deal. I can get the dash off in 15 minutes...it'll probably take you 30-45 since you've never done it before...

Radio surround Console must come out first to access the bolts...

There are several under the radio console, one under the trunk release, one under the temp sensor (rt of steering wheel), two under the center top dash vent (near windshield), one on each side of the dash near a pillar covers (these pull off, no screws), and maybe a few in the glove box area...

The dash does NOT have to come off, but the manual says to take it off, so you can follow the manual or cheat and use a little brute force to get around it. I wrote a how-to on a method that I and a few others have used without taking off the dash and that worked just fine. Let me see if I can find it............

emer. switch can be r/m by taking trim plate from around radio and r/m
lower panel under ign. switch use a small screw driver to release switch
if you look at new switch you can see how it locks in
