Default Strange computer displays??

Twice now my computer display on the dash has read "check gauges", "reduced engine power", "check tire pressure sensors", basically check everything and the oil pressure, temp and fuel gauges all read wrong. I pulled up the codes up using the car's computer and it showed something like 30 codes. When we checked it with a snap-on scanner it just showed the usual IAT code. The battery also checked out ok. Any ideas??

For a start clean the battery terminals... go from there.

All the best.

Or just plain old worn out battery.

Thanks guys. That was my first thought. We checked the battery with a Snap-On tester and it showed good, but maybe a new one is in order just to be safe.

That is a classic case of a WET or DAMP Body Control (BCM) Module!

Check the passengers foot well and look under the toe board and see if the carpet and jute underlayment is wet of damp. If it is i suspect that that is the reason for your funkey displays! If it is wet i have a solution!

I hear ya.
Batteries can we weird too. I've had some test good on meters that only showed how much charge it was holding. The big trick is what happens to that charge as more amps are pulled from it. It might drop out quickly forcing your car to pull more from the alternator giving you all the weird codes.

Seems like the later C5's like to throw codes in multiples and they don't always correspond to the real issue either.

It's like the DIC tells you the car has lost contact with the LDCM and you find out after digging through a pile of codes and resetting them, that you actually have a temp sensor malfunction.
I've had that happen, I'm not making this $^!t up!

IT showed a high voltage to the IAT. I think that is the sensor in between the MAF and the filter. I was going to change it out. The car has been running a little more rough than usual on startup.

Greetings to another Nassy Blue hardtop brother!

I had virtually the same thing happen to me, plus all the door controls died in the driver's side. Oil pressure goes to zero, coolant temp goes full scale, fuel to zero, just bonkers.

C4C5Specialist and C5Tech aimed me towards to two connectors inside the bellows in the door hinge (you might have to pull the bundles towards the door to find the connectors. Wiggled those connectors and suddenly everything worked! So, pulled them apart and back together a couple of times, and have had no problems since (about a year ago).

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
