Well I went out to the garage toniight to go take the Corvette for a spin but when I went to start it ....... Nothing ???? It says it has 11.8 volts and the headlights work and look like they have full power ??? I only bought this thing like 3 weeks ago and have put less than 200 miles on it !! It is a 2002 coupe with 23k miles on it and I am stumped as to why it will not start as it has only been in the garage for like a week since I last drove it. I called the dealer and they said they can have it towed in tomorrow but I wanted to check with you guys first to see if you had any ideas before I send it to them ?? Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Any codes on the DIC?.......Did you try the other key? If the chip is dirty, it won't start. Clutch all the way to the floor? Might as well try the easy things first. I would even try disconnecting the battery for a little while. Could be a bad ground, let us know what you discover. I like to know what can go wrong with our cars, and what the "fix" turns out to be. Good Luck

I have tried everything you mention and I am not getting any codes on the DIC ??? At this point I am stumped and guess I will have the dealer pick her up tomorrow am.
Battery Does it have the original AGM? If so, it is likely just the battery. The AGM's are famous for unannounced failures. Heck, people have even started their car, driven to the store, come out to a no start condition.
It has to be something simple since the car was running correctly and now it won't start, and it is likely the battery if it is the original AGM. Once they fail, they won't take a charge or a jump.
A really dead battery can give these symptoms. If it is a dead short, a jump will not work. Swap the battery out of another car. Bet it works then. My original battery lasted a little over a year. Get an Optima from Auto Zone, etc.
I would be very surprised if it were the battery as I not only tried to jump it but I also had my neighbor who works at a dealership as a mechanic come over and look at it and he does not think it is the batter either. Anyway maybe I will try to replace the battery first just to be sure. BTW what is "AGM" ?

Years ago, I tried to jump my wifes car that had a dead shorted battery and it would not start until we replaced the shorted battery. If it is shorted, a short in parallel with a good battery is still a short circuit! Ohms Law never fails!

Good luck, let us know how you make out.
When my OEM battery died, the car would NOT take a jump either, BUT when a new battery was put in place of the OEM, it started right up.
Battery is the best way to go - either way you should replace the stock battery so if it doesn't work no lose.
I was working on my car over the weekend adjusting and replacing stock Fogs. I didn't hook up the battery charger when I was doing it (my mistake) and ran the stock battery down. Tried to start the car and nothing except for some clicking noises under the hood.
Figured it was the battery and hooked up the charger the battery looked like it had enough juice, but the % meter on the charger only read 60% life so even a good looking battery maybe deceiving...
Dealer picked it up with a flatbed as I have only had it for 3 weeks and they said that they were responsable for any repairs it needed My factory warranty runs out in Jan 05 and I can't seem to find any online extended warranty companies that can sell in Calif ! I hate California rules Does anyone in California know where one can buy an extended warranty excluding the dealer ?
My 2 cents based on some analysis of what you are seeing:
- It's not the battery. 11.8 volts on the DIC is more than enough to start. The DIC always reports a lower value than the actual battery.
- The fact that the column lock motor does not energize when you turn the key is the first hint. If the problem was a failed column lock, then the car would start, but the engine would shut down when you tried to drive off.
My $$ is the problem is in your ignition switch. The ignition switch will unlock the column lock when the key is turned to ON. Either the switch is bad or the Passkey system is not reading the key pellet and that will prevent the car from starting.
