Default Help me choose a cam

Well I need to replace my water pump, so I figured while I had that off, might as well be a good time for a new cam and an LS6 intake, but I am unsure what to get.
1) I don't want to really destroy my gas mileage
2) I run N2O (sometimes)
3) I don't want a cam that could hurt the engine if it idles a lot. But I don't mind the lobbing sound.
4) I would perfer not to need to replace my valve springs, but if I have to then so be it.
5) I will be getting custom tuning

Any suggestions would be helpful

I am a big fan of the 224-228 cams. They make nice power with very good street manors.. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.

Chris,I have a 04Z, with the 224/228 cam, Blackwing, and headers, how much different would the power and driveability be ? I like the muscle car lope, so would I have that with the 224/228 cam ? Skip

I have one of those cams with LS1 heads and it drives great. I have mine on a 114 LSA and it idles with a shake that is only noticed in the drivers seat. My lift is too high (.581/.591) for LS6 springs but it's good to have some insurance in better quality springs anyway. Outside the car it seems as if I only have a louder exhaust. With your LS6 heads and the mods listed plus an underdrive pulley you would probably hit around 410-420 rwhp and around 385+ rwtq with great driveability. I call this cam the "ULTIMATE" daily driver cam. I drive it to work every day since this is my only car. It sees temps down in the 20's all the way up in the 100's throughout the span of a year and it doesn't stall the car or give me any problems. My wife can even drive the car without any problems. I've been trying to get sound clips but I have been to busy with the holidays to do so. I'll get them hosted soon so everyone can see how mild this cam is.

Is there any other choices for tuners

The 224-228 cams are pretty mild. If you do like a little bit of lump I would use the G5X3 which is still very streetable yet gives a nice little lope to it.. I have done many G5 packages and everyone really loves them..

The G5X3 w/114 LSA ROCKS! However, you will need the Comp 921 Dual Valve Springs, IMHO.

I really want to drive a cammed car to see what "good street manners" means to some of you. I like 'em lound an fast , but I want a car I can still lump around in if I'm not up to being speed racer at the moment.

Dennis get your butt down to Greensboro so I can drive your car

Chris if you go w/ the G5-X3 w/ the good springs... how often do you need to change them w/ hard driving? My car sees 5-7 HPDE's a year... I don't want to be changing springs every year.
