You need to zero-out the shift tables for torque management. Also 2-3 shift needs firming up to match the 1-2 shift (base pressure table). Also shift delay can be reduced from .3 to .1 for faster shifts. You should also adjust shift MPH points and torque converter lock/unlock MPH.

great point
there have been reports of installed shift kits fighting against the PCM's torque management. One tries to do one thing, the other
the exact opposite.
Anything a shift kit can do a reprog can do as well. Beauty of a programmer is that you can alter it at will. I use a Predator and have street settings, and more agressive values when going to the dragstrip. And not only can firmness be changed with a programmer, but shift points, and shift quickness as well.
With computer controlled transmissions being in all cars these days, I'm afraid that the old tech "shift kits" will slowly fade away.
oh..... i seeeeee....i'll most likely get the tune when i go for the dyno,
then what should i do with my brand new trans go stg 2 shift kit with the improved seperator plate? its still in the original box with instructions. i wonder if anyone would like to own it for say..$90.00 shipped.?
I installed the shift kit on my can and it made a drastic difference as to how it shifter. Now, there's another point. After I installed it, I lost overdrive. I don't know if it was a situation where the installation was wrong or whether the shift kit quickened an already weak tranny. The car had about 60K miles on it with hard launches. The car was bought used with 49K miles, so I don't know what happened. I'm not sure whether i would recommend the kit, but now, with the rebuilt, beefed up tranny and the shift kit, the car really slamms through the gears. I have not done the programming, but I will do that in the near future.
