Default Ceramic brake pad question!

I am thinking about getting some ceramic pads for my C6 which will be built next week. However, I heard the GM ceramic pads have less bite than the stock C6-z51 pads.

Are there any ceramic pads that have equal, or MORE bite than the stock pads, within a reasonable cost? I want to switch to avoid the squeaking and mostly the dust, but I do not want to sacrifice braking power.

Any recommendations? Thanks,

Joe

NONE that is the trade off. Performance cars need performance brakes. With ceramic pads your dust will change from black to tan and when you put on the brakes to stop your car it WILL TAKE longer to stop your car. You will sacrifive braking power. Ceramic pads are not that good for stopping your car, especially in an emergancy situation, which hopefully no one will have.

Stick with the stock brake pads and wash the wheels more often.

Had my car in for service and mentioned the bad break squeal on my Z51. After contacting the GM rep and discussing the problem, GM rep indicated that they were aware of the problem and new pads would be sent for installation (non-ceramic). Hoping it's a new pad compound that will truely fix the squeal. I'll post after they are installed.

I would rather put up with a little bit of noise to have superior stopping ability. I can't comment on the ceramic pads but I would check this out before switching pads.

I put "Raybestos" (I think thats how its spelt) ceramic pads that I got at Pep Boys on 2 months ago and I can't feel any difference at all. I had to shut down from 140 to 70 MPH in a hurry and the brakes worked fine. And the dust....their is none that you can see. I highly recomend them for people with chrome wheels

Default ceramic pads

i have the gm ceramic pads on my vert with z-51. i can't feel any difference at all with them. squeal is gone, and the dust problem. i have better things to do than clean my wheels everytime i have been out. they worked for me and did not void the warranty.

I have done the same on my C5 coupe, and my Z06. I used the Raybestos QS (Quiet stop) ceramic's and saw no difference in performance at all. Now granted, I am not a track racer, but I needed to "comply with the posted speed limit" in a BIG hurry on more than one occasion, and dropped from triple digits to 55 with no significant difference in the feel or stopping distance? And the brake dust issue goes away! It may go from black to tan, or gray, or whatever... but all I know is I stopped cleaning my chrome wheeels every day and dusted them off maybe once a week after the install!

I'll be changing the C6 pads to the same soon!

$65 for the front and $60 for the rears. They don't show a part # for the C6....just ask for 2004 vette brakes....they are the same as the C6's
