Hey folks,
So the final design is 5" x 1" we cut it out and put it on, and its perfect. We took a z06 picture and scaled it, and that emblem is also 5 x 1. So these will be awesome and very clear as well. For those that want to wait and see what they look like, this is the only time we will be making these. We are not making them for stock or to that nature. One time folks, get while its good.

Is it a go for the Black Chrome emblems? I would like to have two of each(chrome and black chrome) and will send payment by paypal, just give me a total and I'll send it off.

GM just say's "well we realize you want licensing for that, but we won't do it. Why don't you stop making them, we are thinking your existing licensing should be pulled otherwise." CompleteDreams should setup an S-corp make it one of the partners of CompleteDreams, LLC and then have a young, one-legged, hispanic-african-native-american, one-eyed woman run it. That would make for an interesting legal case....
Heck, I'm part native-american - I'd sell them and claim discrimination; http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?...ate=smlfmr.1.1 - no Z51 in the database!!!!

Your opinion is yours, your entitled to it, I am not saying you are 'wrong', so please don't take this in the wrong way, BUT...
There is a [prevailing] alternate opinion to yours, that when someone makes a logo, or other distictive mark, which is emblematic of a product or service they provide, that they can trademark it, so that the unique identity of their product -- their 'brand'-- which is hopefully linked to positive associations in the minds of theiir customers and potential customers, is 'theirs'. People wanting to get the benefit of that positive feeling that people associate with the original goods/services have an opportunity to purchase, or to license, the right to market their products with that trademark. Let me ask a very simple question:
Why would the Z-51 item have any value to you at all? I know some will say 'like the way it looks' or some such, but that's not specific enough to be meaningful. LEt's push further: why might anyone make it look like the original Z-06 emblem? Why do you want one letter and two numbers on a metal plate, stuck to the side of your car, anyway? Would it mean as much to you if it said "H-47"?
I'd be willing to bet that the reason is to identify the 'goods' you have under the hood, or in this case, under the fiberglas' as being somehow unique. Well, then, doesn't it undo your very purpose if anyone anytime anywhere can run around and use that logo that gives you the air of exclusivity?
I'm fully expecting a flame response, but that is NOT what I'm looking for. I am hoping with a little introspection you might agree people who have a stake in their marks and trade symbols do get fussy about them ,but there is a legit reason for that - they have value, and usually becasue of the blood sweat and dollars someone ELSE put into creating that value. Just some food for thought.
I understand your point, but Z-51 is a number the same as 400 hp. It doesn't seem to me they have any claim on this. If Ford had a 400 HP engine, could they use that on a decal? Some things seem too generic to copyright. Why don't they sue Mazda for 240-Z?

Is registration of my mark required?
No. You can establish rights in a mark based on legitimate use of the mark.
