If you remember which buttons do what, it is pretty easy to change on the fly...but I wouldn't say that you should be doing at 100 mph...maybe at 50, but not a 100.
My wife has one on the Buick...and it is a distraction....as said here...whatever you like best.....I did not order the 1SB because of the extras I did not need and frankly I did not see many as upgrades but added costs....I don't have trouble looking at the tach and shifting...don't need an up arrow to tell me when....since other performance cars do not come with it, you got to wonder how necessary it really is. GM is the only one that offers them and they have been around for awhile and have not caught on.

Is the oil change indicator accurate to safely go by? I don't know of any other car companys using this.
can you switch the HUD displays on the fly? does it take fumbling to find the switch to do it, or is it something you can do without looking?
The buttons are on the left edge of the instrument cluster and easy to get to. Here's a link to a PDF version of the Owner's Manual. It shows where they are located in the instrument panel section.
Used to drive a patrol car (Chevy Caprice) that had a digital speedometer... VERY useful for checking your speed at a glance when you're traveling in excess of 100 mph... The HUD on my Vette's windshield is even better; wouldn't be without it.
I sat in a HUD-Vette at the dealer, I'm too tall for it, had to scrunch down to see it, so wouldn't buy it myself but I thought "amazing technology, very worthwhile having".
I've had alphanumeric speedo's on both cars and bikes, IMHO way-better than sweep-needles.
P.
I am 6' 5" tall. I can see the HUD perfectly. The HUD height can be adjusted.
When I ordered the 1SB I thought the same way. Now, I can't drive without it. It helps a lot to keep an eye on #1 speed and my favorite....radio station!
Definately worth the investment.
I find myself speeding in other cars cuz I can't see the speedometer unless I make a point to look. With the hud, it's always there. Around town, when not goofing off, I'm almost always doing exactly the speed limit, and this has saved me from some instant on radars in the last couple of weeks.
It is absolutely worth it. I wouldn't have considered buying a C6
without it. Why spend that much money and deprive yourself one of the most useful and rewarding options the vehicle has to offer? Therefore.
in conclusion HUD = Hell Uva Deal.
