Too distracting.
Your friend is an idiot. Only someone who's never actually owned a car with a HUD could come up with such BS. The whole point of a HUD system is to help you keep your eyes on the road and not on the instrument cluster. You don't have to take my word for it, just ask any airline pilot.

The HUD is my favorite of all the Vette options.

The HUD is one of the coolest and most usable features on the car.

The only thing I dont like about the HUD is when I move my head to the side slightly the HUD becomes harder to read (fuzzy). I checked another C6 thinking it was a faulty HUD and it does the same...just move your head from left to right slowly and see if it doesn't get harder to read.

Do you wear progressive bifocals? That might be the cause of the off-axis fuzziness you're experiencing. The HUD in my car is crisp even when I move far enough off-axis that part of the image is cut off by the frame of the HUD.

It's more of an annoyance than a Good Thing. I'd like it a lot better if (1) it was large enough that the tach was really readable and (2) it centered better. I can barely see it with it adjusted all the way down, and I'm not tall.

Just like the targa roof, the HUD is a feature which I would not purchase a Corvette without.
Every single person who has ever seen the HUD in my C6 has commented on what a great feature this is, especially in a high performance car.
Some here may desire the HUD to perform more functions, but as it is currently set up, I have no complaints.

I live near a school with a 15MPH speed limit (heavily enforced), and it is great to be able to monitor speed while still watching for the little, uh, tykes, running into the street. When I drive my other car (no HUD), I can either pay attention to the kids or watch my speed carefully, but not both. BTW - it is downhill when I leave my house.

The G-force meter is fun as hell

I always find myself checking out the G-force meter after I make a turn. It's addictive. I also love how the NAV system integrates with the HUD when in street mode. It's so nice to have information regarding the next turn right on the HUD without having to take your eyes off the road to look down at the NAV screen. Also, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the progress bar that shows up on the HUD when you're approaching a turn you need to take when under NAV guidance. I would be kicking myself in the **** if I didn't go for that option.
