Default Convertible Top: manual or electric?

What's worth it: $2000 for an electric roof or the manual is fine? How does the manual roof work, anyone has a pic/video?

Default electric or manuel top?

i got the manuel because i figured the electric is just one more potential problem. and the manuel is so simple. just unfold the handle on the top just over the mirror. twist lift up.press the button to open the hatch where the top is stored fold the top down close the hatch you're done 30 seconds maybe.to put the topback up open the hatch fold the top forward make sure the pins on the right and left side go into the hole twist the handle you're done. when the top is down and stored in the back it doesn't affect the size of the trunk space. and as you lift the top from the front to fold back the windows go down. no muss no fuss

IMO it's not worth the extra bucks.

I've had my power top vert in the shop twice for replacement of the micro switches. Having said that, I think the power top is great. Unlatch the top and push a button - about 18 to 20 seconds. If the weather turns bad I don't have to get out of the car to put the top up. For guys used to the manual top it may be a waste of money for this convenience, but for me it's great.

The only option that I do not have on my C6 is the automatic top. Money was not the issue only what works best. videos or pics are not going to show that the auto takes up space and does not work most of the time. The manual takes all of 2 minutes and works perfectly all the time.

I had the auto top. It was trouble from the beginning. On my next vert the top will be manual. This top is easier then the c5 to use. Only one latch, and of course it's super light. A 30 second job at most. Save the $ for Mods!!

I've never had a problem with the power top yet, but i've only had my vert for 4 months. Only time will tell. I think it's a great option. After paying 59k for a car, I would hope that GM can figure out how to make a 30 year concept work on the vette. As a matter of fact, i'm disappointed that i'm not hearing word that they're working on a power hard top similar to the mercedes SL or Lexus.

I have had manual vert tops on the C5 and I have 2 power top C6 convertibles. The power top is the way to go. It is very convienent and you will drive with the top down more often.

I have the power top and it's worth the $2K in my world. I use it all the time; once when I flew off a cliff ala pew wee herman. All joking aside; I haven't had a lick of trouble with it. It's also not made by GM; it's made by a german company....cartopsystems.com

Even though I'm not moding.
Also, more room in the trunk if you need the luggage space.

It is a matter of personal preference.

I went manual, it definitely weighs less and that means more speed.

Then again my car has no other optone except 3.15 rear, yellow paint, and polished rims ($54,650 MSRP) for a Vert, so maybe I am just CHEAP

You will enjoy the Vert either way.

Manual top takes no more than a minute to put up or down.

Manual. Easy to use, save the 2k for add ons like mats, etc. Just another item to go wrong or have problems with.

Manual. Though I'd consider power if it weren't so expensive (to me).

I have had zero problems with my power top and I use it daily. As far as I am concerned it is one cool option and trouble free.

Manual, not a money issue. More trunk room (Important to me)
Manual top goes up and down real easy, and fast.
Had a 98 before, and it was no question what my 05 woul be.

I went with the manual top and have not regretted that decision yet. Not only do I not have to worry about issues that appear to be popping up with the auto top, but I also have more trunk space when the top is up. Those with the auto tops have dividers in the trunk area to prevent items from sliding to the front of the trunk area, which could cause some issues when lowering the top. Besides, like others have been saying, I saved $2,000 to spend on mods
