Just one comment to add...
When you tell the Nav to use the Shortest route, by golly, that's what you'll get. The route may not make a damn bit of sense, or be fast, but it will be short. When a freeway bends, you may be told to take an exit ramp and then the matching entrance ramp, which is shorter than following the bend in the freeway. Computers are great at doing what you tell them to do, not what you want them to do, or what makes sense.

there are a couple of options for avoiding slow roads and toll roads; check out the manual aka RTFM

it works just fine; make sure the international symbol for negation is not over the GPS letters -that could spell trouble; or not since there are no Gs, Ss, or Ps in trouble.

It works just fine; I use the green roads when the blue/red ones aren't working well.

If you have owned ANY other automobile NAV unit OR a handheld GPS unit the C6 system in comparison is like a SKUD MISSLE. You never quite now where it's going to take you. Highly inferior and it's totally counter-intuitive a major GM blunder! I love the C6 all but SXM and Nav in my view both wasted money but thats just one opinion.

OK, to appease everyone that thinks I'm a rookie at Navigation systems. I just couldn't find out why it tells me to make left turn in 1/4 mile when the next left turn is about 3 miles away. Mayby you can find that in the manuel for me.....

Sensitive much? Since we're making suggestions... I'd suggest you lighten up Frances, it was a joke. Notice the smilies?

And as long as we're handing out homework assignments to "work on", you might consider working on a sense of humor. Oh and there's a NAV manual, it's not rocket science.

I'd say that's a mapping error from whomever GM is getting their map data from. These NAV maps CAN be *highly* outdated... by as much as 10 years in some places. The NAV can only navigate as well as the map data it's loaded with.

I have had problems with my Nav. Last week it wasn't behaving and and I pushed the "go back to defaults" button and it started working much better. I don't know what I changed that caused the problems.

This poster is sounding suspicious. Since the Z06 just started shipping, with most people not even getting their cars yet, how many miles experience could this person possibly have with a Z06 NAV system, before coming to this conclusion (in his words "sucks")? Plus it's not even his car!

Very possible.

Good points Roy

Would really like to know if this is the problem.

Edit

After reading all the other respoinses, this appears to not be the issue.

What is it with you guys. I'm sure you can see from Sig that I'm not new here. I have a friend that got his Z06 from Kerbeck two weeks ago. I have driven it or have been in the car with the owner for about three hundred miles. How many miles do I need to know that the NAV just isn't cutting it? If you read my other posts then you know that both he and I have had several other NAV units to compare to and am not new to either programming or using NAV systems. Was it wrong that I asked if others were having the same problem. And BTW, many are. I posted as my friend does not post on this forum or other forums. Shame on me for looking for help from C6 Corvette owners no matter what year Corvette I own and trying to help my friend out. I'm such a bad person.......

Yes, my 05 nav has specific location problems that it can't navigate arround. Really disapointed in the software. I called the software vendor but, I have never followed with the specific problem locations.

I have read through the post and see no reason why he was exoriated in this manner. A simple albeit brief Q not dissimilar to other post on this topic.

"At least with the automatic re-routing feature, once I deviate from the suggested route it recalculates and put me on my favorite route." Is this an optional setting I haven't discovered yet ? Whenever I deviate from the selected route, the Nav keeps trying to get me to make various turns to get back to it's desired route, it never recalculates.

Just a thought and not sure why it would make a difference...I wonder if the change in the antenna location in the 06 cars is the problem. The antenna is now mounted in the side mirror as opposed to the 05 cars that had the antenna on the trunk.....I know my Escalade antenna is mounted under the top of the dashboard and it works perfect even though the signal has to go through the windshield and the top of the dash............

I think one mirror has the XM antenna mounted in it and the other mirror has the GPS antenna mounted in it. Maybe someone here knows for sure but that is what they told us at Kerbeck when we picked up the car...............
