If they dont it will be bc of silly superstitious buyers. First year modle run cars dont have the problems they once did. Helly the 2004 vettes had many if not most of the problems the 97-98s did.
you can do a search but it was posted multiple times here recently how well the new Vette holds its value. Anyways, Im not too concerned. If buying a car that held its value well was my primary concern Id be driving an Accord. This car was an investment in fun.
I think part of the problem the 2005s are suffering is that the z06 came out now so no one wants the "base" model although it is still an amazing car. Therefore lots of people in the market for vettes are wanting only the z06. Those that want a vert or a targa of course are very well off right now.
The Z06 price is about a 40% premium over the base C6 - assuming you can buy at sticker. I really doubt there are large enough numbers of C6 buyers flocking to the Z06 to depress the non-Z06 saleability.
I've owned vettes for thirty years and it's fun to get behind the wheel of one no matter what year it is. I don't think of any of them as outdated , they each are cool in their own way.

You are correct!!! But, when an owner of a C5 starts to dog the C6, then the begins!!!
My friend has recieved two more C6's. One is loaded with a sticker of $54,000+ with 800 miles on it he sold it for $47,000. The other one has an original sticker of $51,000. He is asking $44,000. I know that his prices are bouncing around and the orignal deal was better than the other two but I think it is related to what he pays for them. In any event, severe discounts are being offered.
...is about depreciation of the c6.So,every car depreciates when driven off the lot.big deal.A used vette WILL NOT sell for the same price as a new one although there were some jokers around here that thought so!!!A new vette is 53 k,the same vette used is 44 k...well,53-5 grand depreciation=48 grand-miles=44 gand! You can't compare new to used, etc. The dealer may have purchased it at auction going in to winter...another price factor!C6's won't be any worse than c5's were in their first years or whenever!I love my friggin z51 05 coupe and that's why I bought it...not because it'll be worth xxx amount of money in the year 2057!!!Hell,I might be dead tomorrow!!!How about this for a saturday RANT!!!
A lot of hopeful C5 owners on this thread. Problem is the value gap between a discounted C6 and their C5's is sadly a world apart.
sadly ? im not one of the hopeful here, if i want a c6(which i dont) then i would get one, very simple! the value is worth whatever you want to be in debt for,or what you are willing to be in debt for
Until G.M stops Whorring out the Corvette and actually starts caring about it's Halo car & it's customers, we will be facing these kind of ridiculous discounts!!!
The Corvette is not a volume car, it is an image car for G.M. If they cut production by 20% or so, then things like steep depritiation & discounts will not be! Plus, it would a little more exclusive.
I know some are going to start firing away....."well if they produce less, then it would make it less affordable" etc. etc.
The Vette shouldn't be a car that most can afford. It should be a car of status and something we strive for as we move up in life!!
Just cannot let go - can you. After being ripped in your earlier thread one would have thought you would be more circumspect - but I guess not
... down the road there is no american car that will hold up as well as the vette in resale/trade value. My 01 was 46xxx new...I sold it for 30 grand a couple of months ago.My 05 stickered for 519xx,I bought it for less than that, and if and when i sell it in 4 or 5 years,i;ll get at least 50% of my original purchase price back as long as the car is in good shape w/decent miles. What more can one ask for with a depreciating commodity??

Take it one step further then that , when I purchased my 91 Convertible in September of 1991 the vehicle cost me 28500.00 plus tax . My car has only 20500 miles on it now . Dealer offered me 13000.00 last week on a trade or for an outright buy . Only other car that would hold its value that well would be certain Mercedes or BMW models . I can't think of any other domestic that would.
