For what it is worth. The 2005 C6's may be taking a big hit on depreciation. I saw a C6 today with an original sticker price of $53,000+. The dealer is asking $43,000. The car has 4500 miles on it. What are your thoughts?
probably a good ? to post in a c6 forum. however, with that low mileage it's essentially a brand new car. if the dealer is asking $43 then there is wiggle room built in there. bub
Not like the intro of the C5 at all, when it was so freakin' hot...when I bought my '98 I could have sold it for what I paid for it over a year or two later! Plus when I was going to pick it up...the dealer offered me $1500 just to walk away if I wanted (ie another buyer wanted it).
If they dont it will be bc of silly superstitious buyers. First year modle run cars dont have the problems they once did. Helly the 2004 vettes had many if not most of the problems the 97-98s did.
you can do a search but it was posted multiple times here recently how well the new Vette holds its value. Anyways, Im not too concerned. If buying a car that held its value well was my primary concern Id be driving an Accord. This car was an investment in fun.

Certainly no reason for '05 C6 owners to panic.
The C6 Z06 guys are bitching about dealers charging well above sticker for those cars.
The owners of C5 Z06s are taking a beating on their trade ins, http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1&forum_id=100 and the C5 coupe and vert values are falling as we speak. Indeed all C5s are decreasing in value at an alarming rate.
C6 might be the best value out there right now. They all have 400hp and come with a warranty, and no one is adding a "dealer surcharge" to them. Why buy a C5?
If someone wanted my Z51 MN5 '05 right now, I would tell them to meet my price or go and buy themselves an outdated C5 Z06 or C5 of one flavor or another, or wait in line for a C6 Z06 with a 20k surcharge placed on it.

that car may be a fluke that the dealer came by at auction,or some knucklehead that needed to get out quick.I think it is an exception rather than a rule as far as buying a c6 goes.It could also have an unseen drawback.I.E. flood car, salvage title, etc. It could also be legit, but the one thing I know for sure is it;s a USED CAR.all kinds of possibilities there as to where it came from.I love my c6 and it'll be around a loooooooong time!!As long as they don't repo it!!

Jess, this dealer only sells low mileage creampuffs. I drove the car and it is perfect. I think the previous post hit the nail on the head. Dealers are reducing prices on leftovers up to $8000. $53,000-8000= 45,000. When you take off another $2000 for the 4500 miles on it the selling price makes sense.

you dont sound like a real hobbyist ,NO CORVETTE is outdated, thats the beauty of the hobby in the first place. all mass produced cars, even Vettes depreciate the moment they leave the floor, and if anyone buys cars and doesnt expect to take a hit at sale time, they are in denial. thats been going on like, forever, the consumer rarely wins this game
I never really thought what it was gonna be worth in a few years.....I really don't care either....I bought it to enjoy it and drive it (2 weeks old - 1500 miles).....it's only a car, it's gonna depreciate.....

I've been a Corvette hobbyist for over 30 years. And a Corvette owner for about 15 of those 30. And while the words "NO CORVETTE is outdated" may sound good, unfortunately thats not the case.
Every automobile eventually becomes outdated. Corvettes included.
