Headed out this morning for a short drive and the DIC said I had a low right rear tire...so I went immediately went back home to check it out and found a staple. It was down to 20 lbs.
Fortunately I've seen here that the tires are guaranteed and that I need to find a runflat certified Goodyear store...so I checked the Goodyear site on the internet and found that my closest Goodyear store is runflat certified . I also read the warranty brochure and am prepared to point out to them (if necessary) that the tires are fully warrantied for the first 2/32" of tread wear or 1-year for replacement or repair.
I've got my BMW pucks installed...so may find the answer to the question of whether they'll properly protect the rocker panels. I guess that will depend on what type of lift they use.
Off to the Goodyear store tomorrow!
I'll post an update when it's done.
This morning as I was backing out of the garage, I noticed a low tire warning on the DIC (right rear). I got out to look, and there is a huge staple dead center of the tread. Coincidence, or a Run Flat conspiracy?
So that was covered on the FACTORY warranty, or an extended warranty?
It's covered by the Goodyear tire warranty that comes with the car. You should have received a 3-fold type brochure with your original purchase paperwook.

Looked for this in my file this morning... Either I don't have it or I was looking for the wrong thing. Was this brochure tire / good year specific, or was it small print on GM warranty docs? I just spoke with my local GoodYear shop, and they were unaware of any RoadHazzard warranty that comes with new cars.
Got the tire replaced today under warranty...no charge. The counter guy said they had to do some checking on the warranty, but finally got it figured out for their internal paperwork. They never gave me any problem after I showed them the tire warranty brochure and pointed out the applicapble language.
LESSON LEARNED..ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TIRE WARRANTY BROCHURE IN YOUR GLOVEBOX. The warranty coverage would have been a hassle if I didn't have it.
The replacement went fine, except it was a different (actually better) guy doing the work and I had to show him where to jack it at (as I did the first guy).
They knew about the TPS's, had the right equipment for runflats and were careful not to damage the wheel. They did have to put 120 lbs. of pressure in the tire to get it to seat properly. They actually put the tire and wheel in the restroom while they put the pressure to it because they apparently didn't have the proper cage for this and have never run into this before (80 to 90 lbs. but never 120).
Saga over. Hopefully I won't need to do this again until the tires wear out. Oh yeah, I guess I will when I do the WCC exchange next month!
