I worked for Cessna as a Territory Manager (SE side) in the late 70's.

You remember those days I'd bet. Jimmy Carter and 20% interest and the end of new single engine aircraft sales.

Thanks Jimmy!

Things are much better now and now I'm saving for my Vette too!

I am a financial consultant. One month after I paid off the mortgage and my 4th child graduated from high school (4 kids with 13 years of private school) it was time to get to get my first Vette. My 06 C6 arrived in September and each of my kids told me it was about time I did something for myself. Many times the rewards are sweeter for those who wait.

I put $5000.00 in a stock fund 23 years ago before I had kids. Now that I have put my kids through college including 1 through a Master's program, I decided it was time for myself.

I work in the Post Production Film business,
I compose music for film, and mix sound for film. Use to produce records, but that business dried up.

Me, too. Mortgage paid off, bought some good stock many years ago, getting military disability payments, fairly good pension plan, good savings decisions and when I turn 62 I will get a raise (SS).

I have this gold mine in the Sierra Madres. It provides a little money, but most of my working capital comes from the movie about it...residuals .

I used to be a boilermaker on drugs but now I'm a **** star on Social Security... but lately I've been plagued by my software which is no good in the **** business.

Getting ready to order an 06 Vetible and I have a 04 Mustang GT vert in the garage parked behind a 64 Cobra FIA 289. The real trick here is to sell only one of the other toys to make room for the Vette... Anguishing over which one to get rid of...
Your question was how do people afford it??? In my case it's just dumb luck and a great wife... We both worked hard for lots of years and managed to have some money left over.

I make web sites and do Professional marketing and consulting.

I just finished the Down South Vettes web site (www.dsvettes.com) which was a lot of fun.
