Started excavating company when I was 20 years old. I am 48 now and have owned 3 vette's. 1978--C3 1999--C5 Traded my C5 and ordered an 06 Silver A6 Coupe. Have had the car since Nov. and am
VERY happy with it.
I'm 54. Three kids no longer at home / largely independent. I'm with the same telecommuncations company for 34 years. ( Regional Manager, Service Operations. ) 2002 C5 Coupe, 1996 C4 Convertible. Weekend drivers. ( Great wife and a few good stock and real estate investments along the way. )
I'm just an average Joe..I had to work up to my C6. I worked as an aircraft mech for several years after my 4 year stint in the Air Force. Then I became a simulation assembly tech and finally a Model maker. I drove used Corvettes (12 of them) until last year. Buy, trade, buy, sell, finally I bought a new one thanks to having a 69BB to sell for the down payment. Without that I MIGHT have been able to afford a Cobalt.. YUK!!! That's why I drove used Corvettes instead of a new whatever.
My business card reads Manager, Worldwide Sales Program Development for the "World's Largest Hotel Chain"...unfortunately my paycheck does not reflect that .
I make $40 grand a year. I am single and don't have children. My house is paid off. I took out a home equity line of credit to buy my C6 and build an addition to the garage so that both the vette and my 2000 monte carlo pace car can fit in there. I hope to have everything paid off in 7 or 8 years, that is if I don't keep buying stuff from Pipedreams.
I am an orthodontist- 12 years of school = broke until 35 years old. Just enjoying fruits of labor for past 5 years. Went 80 corvette, 97 corvette, 2002 ZO6, viper, Ferrari, M3 and now getting back to my first love-Corvettes. I have a bad car habit(my only vice) and a very understanding wife.
Like you I work in Aviation and founded the Cessna Pilots Association 22 years ago. I know a number of people in the customer service department at the factory.
However the money to buy the C6, the airplanes, the boats, the houses and put two kids through college did not come from my aviation business. I have done well in real estate investment and that has earned me a lot more than the total of all the salary I have been paid in my chosen career for the last 25 years.
You never get rich in aviation and you never get rich working for someone else.
52 years old, Mechanical Engineer, I've worked for the same company for the last 29 years, but under 5 different names (the company's name, not mine!). This is my first Corvette, I've always been an Fbody type of person. My first car was a year old 68 Firebird 400 4 speed. I paid $2100 for that wonderful car. I bought a brand new loaded 73 Z28 RS LT Coupe for $4222 out the door. Man have things changed since 1973. I paid more for the new C6 than I did for my first home that I bought in 1976. Oh, and I do enjoy my cars, all have seen numerous Solo 2 and quarter mile events.
I work hard throughout the week, for a small automobile company based in Detroit. On weekends, I have a red milk crate, turned upside down, and I sit on the corner of a busy intersection, with at cardboard sign that reads, "Please Help!, Need gas for Vette."
Thats some funny stuff....kinda like the guy who says.."why lie, I need a beer!"

Im a regional manager for a Pool Hall chain based out of Houston. Ive been doing this kind of work for 17 yrs, and love it, only have 1 C6 tho,. but do have a 03 trailblazer as a daily driver.
