56, retired after working at GM and then 32 years for an insurance company on the research end. My son just finished a 5 year engineering program. He doesn't know it yet but he is going to support my wife and me in the life style I want to get used to. Damn, just remebered he is on this forum and just bought his first Vette, guess he knows now.

I am a 52 year old dentist with several practices in Southern Kalifornia.

In high school and college (1970's), I never cared for Corvettes as at the time I felt they were a cult item for middle aged divorced people. In 1991, I discovered I was a middle aged divorced person and bought my first Vette, a black 1991 ZR-1. I have owned a 99 C5, a 67 427 roadster, currently own a 94 ZR-1 and I'm "on the list" for a Machine Silver Z06. Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos are not of any interest to me to own.

Formula of Owning a Corvette:

Raised Poor, Started a Machine Shop, 20 years later, very successful.

Kept girlfriends but never married, have no kids, (think Robert Stack)

Obeyed laws zealously (no fun sometimes)

Bought my first new corvette 3-6-06

Each person has their formula.

I think if it were just a guys world, we would buy big screen tvs, sports cars, off-shore boats, etc. without much consideration for Kids College (after all, that is why they have financial aid right?) and the Wife's reasoning (stayed away from that set-up with a passion)

The nice part of being independent of a better half, is that the one who controlls the checkbook, has all the power. sweeeet

I'm 27, a musician and a partner in an auto auction company. I majored in music in college, played every kind of rotten gig possible for a while, now I'm at the point where I only play for poeple who pay me well! I recently toured with a Latin American Universal Records artist, and that was a blast! Free food, free lodging, free transportation, I was given cash every day, plenty of time to go to the gym, limo service, and we started in Miami and worked up to New York with lots of time to explore. Never had to move an ounce of gear, either. The good thing about the auto auction is that it is going to allow steady income, but there are no real "hours" per say, so as long as I work my @$$ off and get my stuff done, I am free to play anywhere I want. Plus, I don't have to play music that isn't important to me!

So that's what I do. I'd also like to be a figther pilot, private investigator, an aerobatic champion, design a car that runs on human methane emission and produces 1,000 RWH, be a professional surfer, run a marathon in 2 hours flat, squat 1,000 lbs., and be a stupid comedy movie star. All in good time... :-)

Are you sure about the "professional surfer" part? I recall one saying he never had the heart to tell his parents he was a "professional surfer" he thought they would be more understanding if he just told them he'd been in jail for the last 10 years.... lol

Made some money after starting several mortgage broker operations. Home appreciation here in NorCal has helped tremendously too. Am thinking of semi-retirement from current small-company ownership.

No wife, grown son...only responsible for my own bills.

<--------see screen name. I make 'em, they put them on. Kinda got cleaned out after a divorce in 93, and (benign) brain tumor surgery that same summer. I decided that I would work hard and have a good time doing while I did it. So I have paid my kids child support (4 MORE MONTHS), and put them through private school. Saved up a decent little nest egg for their college, and remarried a woman who always insists that I do whatever makes me happy. I bought a Vette and travel with her. This one is a keeper, my Vette might be too!
