The very first thing I did after I graduated from college (1967) was order a 67 Rally Red Stingray convertible. I got more benefit from that car than I ever got from my degree. Buy the car and give it to them when they are college age. They will thank you for a lifetime.
15 years as LEO then got very lucky. I started what turned into a fairly successful freight forwarding and contract carrier trucking business. Our motto is “If you’re on the map, we’ll haul your crap” Also proud alumni of U of Nebraska and a huge Big Red football fan….
Patiently waiting for my C6 (2 weeks) which is my first American car in 15 years! I keep praying I didn’t make a mistake.
OB/GYN. 4 kids. 6 cars. In hock up to my eyeballs. Loving every minute of it and thanking God for everything that I have. A few more years and it'll all be paid off though.

City of Los Angeles, Facility maintenance/operations and repair. 1 Vette, 1 Harley, 1 Truck, 1 Motorhome, 1 boat and 1 dirtbike. If I had more room Id have more stuff. My friends call my house "Toys R Us"
Seems to me that the kids should be putting themselves through college. My .02.
Couldn't agree you more on this one. Wife and I both paid for everything we have or done, including the wedding 22 years ago, cars, houses, vacations and such. I've seen too many silver spoon kids (not all of them) getting Vets, Trans-Ams, Vipers, houses, other large ticket items and just destroying them in a short matter of time. The wife and I are strong believers that you will appreciate something you work and pay for yourself.

Depends on what they're studying.
The kid's majoring in Communications or some other Mickey Mouse curriculum, he can work 2 jobs and still get good grades.
The kid's in pre-med and has to get nearly straight As in difficult courses to get accepted to med school, he'd better be home studying, not slinging burgers.
More than one job. Main job is a firefighter, then I install storm blinds, then odd jobs here and there. But it's worth it b/c I've wanted a Vette since I was a child.
