I thought someone had a thread on this but I cant find it... yesterday I took the car out and noticed the lights never went off. Its a long drive (60 miles) in sunny weather so it wasnt a didnt drive it long enough issue.
If it happens again I have the following questions (before the dreaded dealer visit)
1. Where is the sensor located
2. Anyone else have the lights stay on when set to Auto and if so what was the problem and fix?
Sensor is on top of the dash, left of center. If you had anything lying on the dash, that could be the problem. Also, if you had the fog lights on, I believe the headlights will also stay on until you turn the fog lights off.

Mine have stayed on for a longer period of time twice.. 5-6 minutes compared to the 30 seconds normally. Interestingly both times were on cold mornings. .... about 35 deg.f
So they worked fine today so either it was the gremlin, dirty sensor, or IO error.. the way my week has been it prob. was IO error... thanks all for the replies
Pilot error seems to account for a few of the problems we have with the electronics-laden C6. GM could have designed more intuitive controls for several of these systems.
I wished you could go fully manual with the lights. Mine come on way too often (parking garages, my garage, underpasses, etc).
They are then..... either turned off by me.... or automatically turned off.
I feel all this daily "cycling" will only wear these HID's out prematurly.
Hell what do I know.
It is a nuisance to have them come on time after time between the garage at home and the parking garage at the office and when you use a reflective sun shield in the windshield when parked. I end up manually turning them to parking lights until the "Headlamps suggested" message disappears. Anybody else notice that the odometer shows at shutdown if the auto lights are on, but it doesn't show the odometer at shutdown if the auto lights are not on? And, to top that off, if you shutdown with the parking lights on (for only a few seconds, then you turn them off), it won't show the odometer. However, if you are shutdown, and then turn on the parking lights, it displays the odometer? Somebody had to work overtime to come up with this boneheaded design.
The longest time that my auto lights stayed on was about 5-8 minutes. I had just received it back from the shop where they did a main wiring harness replacement, so naturally I thought they f'ed it up for about 5 minutes. If your dash was clear and your headlights stayed on for an hour during daylight, something is messed up.

I know you are not liking the problems with your C6.
Could you go over all the problems with us. I don't recall seeing this.
Maybe on a new thread as I don't want to hijack this one.

Mine has had this problem since the day I bought it a couple of months ago. At first, I figured that I had screwed something up somehow, and I did not get around to consulting the manual until this week. (In the meantime, I was simply turning off the headlights manually, but it was very annoying, as the "headlights suggested" message was everpresent.)
Well, I checked the manual in great detail, and I am now convinced that mine is simply broken. I'll be taking it to the dealer when I have some spare time in the next few days.

I have the same issue but it corrects itself if I leave the car off for five minutes. Must be a relay somewhere.
If the headlight switch was placed in the manual On position, doesn't it stay there instead of springing back to Auto?
If we turn the headlights on manually (as per above paragraph), and don't turn the switch off after shutdown, don't the lights go out by themselves? Would they come on and stay on the next time we start the car?
