would reboot it first..any trip to dealer might make it worse...look around. if you like broken body parts, scratched rims or body panels take it there often. if not do it yourself as much as possible
My Chevy/Caddy dealer is one of the few dealers that offers superb service. They go out of there way to take good care of my C6.
Just got home from visiting my mom. Backed into my parking spot put it in park and all hell broke lose. The dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. All the warnimg lights came on like when you start it up but they stayed on. Turned the car off thinking that maybe the electrical system would clear itself on a restart. Well she doesn't start! Put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button...NOTHING!!! The radio continues to play and won't shut off. WTF!!! Now the doors don't open and I'am trapped inside. So I pull on the emergency handle and the door opened. Closed the door and now it won't open from the outside! In the meantime the radio continues to play and the doors still don't open...an hour later! I'am afraid I'll be looking at a dead battery if the radio doesn't turn off. What should I do???
When my battery cracked in my C-5 the battery acid when it got in the wiring harness had a similiar reaction to the dash. However, it only lasted for a few minutes.
Not to be a fool - but is there any easier way to do this than to disconnect the battery? Is there any fuse based option?
There's no "master reset" somewhere to the DIC?
there is that disconnect terminal you can attch to one of the cables, its a quick disconnect (it also has a separate line to keep an energy feed for your DIC)

It is just surprisingi that there inst' a way to access the DIC to reset the thing. In my over-active way, I've seen schematics of teh thing - but have no recollection.
Here's the followup. Drove my C6 to the dealer early this morning. Explained to the service manager what happened. The tech who worked on my car discovered that it had a faulty door receiver. The car didn't recognize that I was sitting in the seat. So the car didn't start and the doors wouldn't open. My C6 will remain at the dealer for at least a couple more days. In addition to a new door receiver both fob's will have to be reprogramed. Everything is covered by the warranty. The dealer also gave me a new Buick Lucerne to drive around in until my C6 is fixed. The sound system in that car is much better than the one in my C6. Much better FM reception too. Having said that the rest of that Buick is a piece of crap! Felt like I was driving my living room down the street. No wonder GM is going down the tubes.

Buick's are for the AARP crowd. They are built with older people in mind. I watched a program on it. The doors are constructed for ease of entry and exit. Everything on the car has old people in mind. They advertise big time in the senior publications.
Thanks for posting. Never know when something like that could happen to any one of us as well. Kudos to all the forum support you received. Glad it appeared to be nothing too serious for you other than some minor inconvenience. Hope it is nothing you will re-encounter.
Isn't that a brand of Ice Cream? I personally think that a Lucerne is a retro look car back to the days when cars were big and UGLY!
It certainly is not a car designed to appeal to the normal Corvette enthusiast. It is a far cry from the old mammoth Buicks of 30 years ago. In fact, it is a mid sized car designed to compete with near luxury class cars. From their ads, the Lexus ES seems to be the target vehicle. I haven't driven one but did look at one which came with a Northstar V8. Truly, it looked to be a pretty nice ride.

Thank God for the C6. Can't wait till the dealer calls me and say's "You're vette is ready". I think I'll set a new land speed record driving this AARP approved Lucerne back to the dealer. It's only been one day without my C6 and I'll already climbing the walls.

I feel your pain. Maybe have some fun with the Buick while you have it. Spray some WD-40 on the tires and see if you can do a burnout or something.

The Northstar Lucerne motor just may be capable of a new AARP approved land speed record.
