How do you have time to adjust the radio volume THAT MUCH that it would be annoying?

I'm spending too much time enjoying driving the damn thing to worry about it.

Go get some bose noise cancelling headphones and stay at home.

I'll wave as I drive by

Ditto for me-06 Coupe with Nav. This is my second head unit and neither auto volume control does (did) anything.

I don't think you could hear it anyway with the top off and the windnoise/freeway.

Some radios have the AVOL MIN & AVOL MAX; others have only AVOL ON & AVOL OFF.

"This feature is most effective at lower radio
volume settings where background noise can affect how
well you hear the music being played through your
vehicle’s audio system".

I suppose if you have it on low it may work, but what setting is low?

When I have the volume on loud enough for me to hear at 35MPH and then go 75MPH in my vert, I have to up the volume **** to hear the music.

Mine doesn't seem to work either. I might be the wrong guy to ask however. I think the Bose system is weak at all cruising speeds.

AudioPilot® Noise Compensation Technology*

This U.S. patented system represents a new standard in noise compensation, allowing everyone in the car to enjoy all the music all the time – with no need to make adjustments.

A microphone inside the vehicle constantly monitors the overall sound level inside the car, including both music and unwanted noise. Bose digital electronics then separate music from the noise, continuously modifying the music signal. So you hear the full musical performance – loud and soft passages – can be heard. As a result, listeners can enjoy the entire musical performance while perceiving no change in the overall volume of the audio system – even as noise levels change within the car. Listeners can now hear all of their music, as Bose AudioPilot makes the combined experience of driving and listening a true pleasure.

C5 and C6 are different systems. I liked the one in my C5 better. In the C6, after you start the car, ajust the volume to were you like it, then press the auto volume button, that's it. I don't know why you have to do this every time you get in the car, but that's the way it is. The C5 took care of it for you.

I think some folks here didn't read the last sentence in the above paragraph.
I'll plead guilty to your charge. However, for the manual to state in a nice way that the damn thing is worthless is worth rereading again and again!

Why do I have to press the auto volume button again if it is already displayed as on?

It won't be displayed as already on if you just started the car and turned the radio on. You have to press the AUTO VOL button every time you turn the radio on.

How do you use that Traffic feature on the AM radio where it will search out traffic reports for you?

2005 No nav. Mine works fine. While I'm driving I have the radio up so I can hear it. I then hit the control switch which shows it on. Hit it again till it shows off and see if your radio drops in volume. If it does your fine.

2005 owner's manual, page 3-82.

TRAF (Traffic): If TRAF appears on the display, the
tuned station broadcasts traffic announcements
and when a traffic announcement comes on the tuned
radio station you will hear it.
If the station does not broadcast traffic announcements,
press the TRAF button and the radio will seek to a
station that does. When a station that broadcasts traffic
announcements is found, the radio will stop seeking
and TRAF will appear on the display. If no station
is found that broadcasts traffic announcements, NO
TRAFFIC will appear on the display.
If TRAF is on the display, press the TRAF button to turn
off the traffic announcements.
The radio will play the traffic announcement even if the
volume is low. The radio will interrupt the play of a
CD if the last tuned station broadcasts traffic
announcements.
This function does not apply to XM™ Satellite Radio
Service.
