volume settings where background noise can affect how
well you hear the music being played through your
vehicle’s audio system".
I suppose if you have it on low it may work, but what setting is low?
When I have the volume on loud enough for me to hear at 35MPH and then go 75MPH in my vert, I have to up the volume **** to hear the music.

AudioPilot® Noise Compensation Technology*
This U.S. patented system represents a new standard in noise compensation, allowing everyone in the car to enjoy all the music all the time – with no need to make adjustments.
A microphone inside the vehicle constantly monitors the overall sound level inside the car, including both music and unwanted noise. Bose digital electronics then separate music from the noise, continuously modifying the music signal. So you hear the full musical performance – loud and soft passages – can be heard. As a result, listeners can enjoy the entire musical performance while perceiving no change in the overall volume of the audio system – even as noise levels change within the car. Listeners can now hear all of their music, as Bose AudioPilot makes the combined experience of driving and listening a true pleasure.
I think some folks here didn't read the last sentence in the above paragraph.

TRAF (Traffic): If TRAF appears on the display, the
tuned station broadcasts traffic announcements
and when a traffic announcement comes on the tuned
radio station you will hear it.
If the station does not broadcast traffic announcements,
press the TRAF button and the radio will seek to a
station that does. When a station that broadcasts traffic
announcements is found, the radio will stop seeking
and TRAF will appear on the display. If no station
is found that broadcasts traffic announcements, NO
TRAFFIC will appear on the display.
If TRAF is on the display, press the TRAF button to turn
off the traffic announcements.
The radio will play the traffic announcement even if the
volume is low. The radio will interrupt the play of a
CD if the last tuned station broadcasts traffic
announcements.
This function does not apply to XM™ Satellite Radio
Service.
