Corvette NEWS - New Chief Engineer for Corvette
Hey guys found out this news this morning....
Chevrolet has appointed Tadge Juechter, longtime Assistant Chief Engineer of Corvette, to the position of Vehicle Chief Engineer for Corvette and Cadillac XLR. Tadge will continue to report to Tom Wallace, who will still be the Vehicle Line Executive for Corvette and Robert Kruse, Engineering Director North America. Tadge has been Assistant Vehicle Chief Engineer for the Corvette since 2001 and has played a key role in the successful development and launch of the C6 Corvette and the Z06.
Sorry if its a dupe somewhere....havent had too much time for the forum lately...unfortunately... (my work schedule and a medical issue with my grandmother )

Thanks for the info and sorry to hear about your grandma Tray.
This has to be the shortest period of time that has passed between a changing of the guard for Chief Engineers isn't it?
I liked it better when they (Duntov, McClellan etc.) held the title for years and years at a time.

Tracey,
Not a dupe as far as I've seen. Tadge will be good for the Corvette. He did good things behind the scenes with Dave Hill. It's interesting that they split the post with Tom Wallace staying on as the VLE and Tadge taking the helm as the Chief. I hope we (the owners) didn't scare Mr. Wallace away at the Birthday Bash. I hope things improve for your Grandmother. See ya around.

Interesting and I thought it should have been this way to begin with. I bet it was one of those management things where they didn't want Tadge to completely take an executive seat that Dave had. They probably put Tom in power who later figured out that he had enough to do with the executive duties, let alone the chief engineer role. Then they likely figured out that they probably should have Dave Hill's 2nd in command in charge in the first place, but keep Tom in the board meetings. Just my corporate speculation, having seen enough of this nonsense in my life already to last me a lifetime...

I remember reading in "All Corvettes Are Red" that Corvette was the only product where one person was both chief engineer and VLE. I guess they decided it would be better to split the duties or it could be the usual corporate politics.

I think part of it is that Tom has more vehicles than just Corvette and XLR... so his plate is definetly full... hard to focus on just Corvette when you have 4 or 5... Tadge is a really nice guy so I know he will be fine working with Tom.....
