Default Laser diffuser tests for C6

This is what I have been waiting for. Looks like we now have some technology to help reduce taxation without representation.

dont want to read the long article, but I've had at least 10 peace officers look at their guns as I've driven past with my Shifter ZR-3 from Escort installed. Blinder is supposed to be even better, but the shifter integrates with my passport 8500

I have the Passport SRX (ZR3 shifter above, with built in integrated radar detector), in both of my cars...and it works great. Saved my A** many times.

Do you guys that have them turn it off when you get a warning, or just keep them on?

I'd really like to get this type of system, I've got the Passport 8500 it hooks up to. How does it integrate with the Passport unit, and what advantage do you get for hooking it up to the 8500l?

Hell no! As long as this works, and I can take advantage of it, I'm a fan of keeping it out of the limelight. Next thing you know EVERYONE will get one, then they either get banned or something else comes along.

The Shifters only come on when there is a threat warning. They go back off 3 seconds after the threat is gone. It takes 50 milliseconds for the newest lidars to get a reading, it only takes 5 milliseconds for the Shifter to detect a laser threat and activate countermeasures. You could manually disable the Shifter, but there's no good reason to do so.

When you hook it up, you don't need to install the laser threat display that comes with the Shifters. The 8500 takes over that job.

That is what the 8500 is for -won't block it, but does detect it

snip, snip...

"There are no federal laws in the U.S.A. that prohibit the ownership and/or operation of laser jammers.

However, some states have enacted their own laws that do prohibit the ownership and/or use of these devices. These states include: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC. "

end snip...

I also believe radar/laser jammers are illegal in Texas as well. I would not want to get caught up on Highway 59 with one anyway...

I've had the Calibre K-40 in my 300C for over a year now and it's saved me from laser tickets twice. I didn't want either installer I spoke with to put the K-40 in the Vette (long story) so I went with the Escort system. ZR3 paid for itself last weekend as I rounded a curve on the interstate and wound up in the crosshairs. Shifter worked like a charm. I'm more concerned with instant on radar (pop) than laser.

Georgia keeps changing over to the LASER because Laser Atlanta keeps gining units away to the local PDs.
...I love it..

The only time I see radar lately is when it is raining outside

Ahh, didn't know that. I've been hit with the instant on radar in Suwanee twice recently. Only thing that saved me was, I wasn't speeding. I had been told that at one time the instant on radar had failed in a court case and that was why it wasn't in use in Ga. Maybe that was BS, I don't know. I only know that it's just in the last year I've come across patrol cars that SUDDENLY light me up with radar. Prior to this last year I usually knew long before the patrol car was in sight that one was running radar ahead. Maybe I'd just been lucky. At least I have a chance against the laser gun!

Interesting reading! Maybe it's time I augment (or totally upgrade) my existing 'radar' detector with even greater capability.

I got popped on a deserted country road about six months ago (first speeding ticket in about 25 years) by a rookie cop not interested in writing a warning. Even my Police Officer friend said most cops would not have cited me but since this was a brand new rookie....I didn't have a chance.

Maybe an 'augmented' system would have saved me $125.00 and the 8 hours of driving school it took to have the 'offense' disappear. Even going to driving school the City government still got $85.00 of the $125.00 which is after all....mostly what speeding tickets are about....a source of revenue....with rare exception....it's all about the $$$
