Jeez man lighten up, eh? I wasn't bragging at all. I just posted a 3 word reply to Talon that GMS can be used by non-GM employees, the "rules" notwithstanding. He asked for clarification, I provided it. If you really think that top level execs don't hand out GMS #s to their friends/associates (I think they get two a month) and don't EVEN worry about it, well, I've got some land to sell ya.
I am an executive level GM eligible employee and I wouldn't pass out my GMS authorizations outside of what is allowed by policy. Of course I am not a "top level" exec, so maybe the rules are different at the very top. Anyway enjoy the car.
My father retired from GM and it has to be an act of congress for him to hand out a GMID certificate .......no way in hell he will give someone a GMS authorization number if they are not family.
I don't know what to tell you. It was definitely GMS. In fact, because it was GMS, the tough part was finding a dealer who would accept it on a Corvette. Only 3 dealers (out of nearly 40) in NorCal would even consider doing the deal. I ended up going with the one closest to where I live (98 miles away).
From an email from the dealer...
Here are the financing numbers:
Price $45,143.05 (GMS)
Fees 409.75
Sales Tax 3,502.07
Cash Downpayment -20,000.00
AMT Financed 29,054.87
Finance Charge 4,889.53
Total Payment 33,944.40
Please feel free to run the numbers and see if they work out for an '07 Monterey Red Vette, w/3LT, 6sp, chrome wheels
So the dealer told you it was the "GMS" price? Did you actually see the invoice sheet? If you really had a GMS (and not GMID or some other such program), they would have no problem showing it to you. Your car was over $1000 more than mine (although mine's an 05) and I have the same options plus NAV, and Z51. I'm not trying to dump on you but I just find it hard to believe that some stranger could or would take the risk to put you in the system. But who knows, maybe he works for an Exec or is an Exec who races with your crew on the weekends.
My new LMB 2007 coupe was just delivered and now O'reilly Chev. of
Tucson,AZ says it won't accept my GMID discount (supplier) even though it was originally agreed upon. They said they don't make enough rebate money on the GMID. They did say however they would take a GMS (employee) discount. Anyone out there willing to help?
Absolute torture; the car is within reach and they are playing games.
You can not get GMS unless you are an employee or GM retiree.
GMID or GM Supplier price only works if the dealer will accept it. What does your contract with the dealer read. Writting is stronger than words.

GMS price for the car above is

Total MSRP:*$52,540.00
MSRP:$49,940.00

GMS Price:***$45,218.05
Current Offers:-$250.00

Also under GMS the dealer can charge up to $75 for fees, so I am not sure what the 409.5 is unless it is DMV fees? Anyway a great price for a great car. Nice color choice, it was my second choice to LMB. I actually had to order my 06 from an out of state dealer because I couldn't find any dealers in southern CA that would honor GMS.

Yes the 409.5 was for DMV/registration fees. One thing that I find interesting is the -250 in Current Offiers. I wasn't aware of any special offers, at least at the time I bought mine(and I actively looked, believe me). Unless that is something the dealer can hold onto to at least make something on the deal? Surely they must make more than that though. Oh well, it's all good.
Like I said the tough part was finding a dealer willing to do the deal. Even though you had to do the out of state thing, I'm sure you are enjoying your ride. Nice choice on the color. Just so happens that I nearly went the LMB route myself.
Absolutely true GMS is for GM employees and family only.
I am not a GM employee and have received 3 GMS pin's (after today make that 4) in the past. Many Executive's at the corporate level and some at the plant level (Plant Managers, Assistant Plant Managers, Area Managers) get these to give out to the GENERAL PUBLIC and they are not breaking ANY rules by doing so. It is called a GMS-LTI pin. The LTI stands for "Long Term Incentive". The trick is to find the executive to ask for one. Trust me, it is not Supplier or GMID pricing. It is the GMS price on the invoice.
I don't deal much with O'Rielly's sales department but I've dealt with their service department for many years (mostly for various Suburbans). There are a few good people there but they're a dealership....no better or no worse than others.
I doubt they'll budge but I'd get away from the salesman and get with the sales manager in the Tower (salesmen can't make any decisions anyway). Press the fact that the pending transaction is based on the written 'proposal' they printed out and gave you. IMO it's a misleading and deceptive business practice to give you a written price/proposal and then renege on it at the last minute. If all else fails, try seeing Buck O'Rielly directly (Buck will likely refer you right back to the SM).
As tough as it may be....if they don't honor the price they 'gave' you...go somewhere else and make sure Buck O'Rielly knows why you walked (I probably have his home address and phone number). File complaints with GM, BBB, etc. It won't help but it might make you feel a little better.
I know it's tough to walk when the car is sitting there. In early 2005 they had 2 C6s in the showroom....one was the exactly what I wanted. I was an all cash buyer but they resisted letting me take a test drive....they finally offered to push it outside and start it up so I could listen to it....I said 'F this' and called my car broker and ordered the exact same car. I had to wait about 35 days but it was worth it.
