It was genuine leather in the C5, but the C6 uses vinyl for both the shifter and ebrake boots. It looks so cheap to me that it was bugging me, so I replaced mine with aftermarket genuine leather.

I kind of thought this was the case. You think GM could spend a few bucks more to upgrade this. Much cheaper cars have leather shift boots.
