HUD vs Speedometer

HUD vs Speedometer
I have noticed that my speed display on the HUD is 1 to 2 miles per hour below the speed displayed on my speedometer and my speedometer matches the speed when I set my cruise control. Therefore when my HUD displays 75 miles per hour my speedometer and cruise control will be at 77 miles per hour. The dealership told me that they checked with GM and nothing can be done.

Everyone has their own criteria for deciding which feature is worth the money but it's a proven fact that a HUD provides real-world benefits. Sure, I could make-do without it (so could a fighter jet pilot) but why wouldn't I want the benefits afforded by this technology?
It took me a short while to break the habit of taking my eyes off the road to look at the gauges but once learned, the HUD is extremely useful and beneficial.
Using cruise control, my speedometer shows 1-2 mph higher than the HUD display.

My HUD matches the speed of those radar bulletin boards the cops set up around here. Trouble is they're mostly in 25 to 35mph zones. Haven't checked it against the GPS yet.
For me it's definitely worth it. I can't seem to see the speed I want on the speedometer without twisting my head.

No brainer for me. I truly believe that the HUD should be mandated on every car. Your eyes never need to leave the road and, for those of us with NAV, your turns come up right where you need them, not looking down and away at the NAV screen.

I normally use Street mode anyway. I love the HUD. At first it was hard to not look at my analogue gauges, but now when I'm not in my c6 I look for it on the road of other people's cars..im like wait...I have to look down again.
great feature and worth the extra $$$. I think the HUD is the more accurate of the two displays when it comes to Mph readings. Mine is alo 1mph or so off from analogue read out.

The HUD is digital the dash is analog. So if the dash says 60 mph that could really be 59.99mph. The HUD will show 59 but the dash is not that accurate so it looks like 60. If you are really off more than one mph, though, it could be something else wrong.
FWIW I'll never have another car that doesn't have at least speed on a HUD. Whenever I drive my wife's Suburban I glance at the (missing) HUD every couple miles! The real difference is you don't have to change your focus as much for the HUD as you do for the dash.

Easy to underestimate
It is easy to underestimate the value of the HUD, but once you have seen the speed limit sign and your speed simultaneously, you are hooked.
Have fun.
Edited to add "under".
