Security Systems
Does anyone add security systems to these or do you trust the factory one?
If you added one, what type and why.

Factory. C6s are very hard to steal, short of flatbedding them off.

GM has a great system on some 05s
but it is optional
You had to order code # DBS on the Build sheet.
No one can steal these optioned cars !

Sure they can - they use the FBT device.

An alarm would need to be well integrated into the Passive Key system someone to truely like it ... I think that many alarms are not that good yet ...

I did not install any after-market, enhanced security system on my 2005. Truly professional car thieves are so sophisticated that given the 'right' circumstances, they can steal any car. I do my best not to expose my Corvette to the 'right' circumstances.
I think it's dependent upon where you live, how you use your car and the typical conditions your car is exposed to. For instance, if I lived in a large, urban area and had to park my car in a known high-crime area everyday, I would consider augmenting the security system.
OnStar can be helpful once a car is stolen. My friend had an OnStar equipped Suburban stolen. Using it's GPS system, the local police worked with OnStar and were able to locate the stolen car and the thieves (who I understand are now 'guests' of the State).

On this particuliar car the Corvette I wouldn't mess with any of the electronics as they all tie into each other from factory. I wouldn't want to create any more problems.

I had the dealer bring in an alarm company experienced with the C6.
I had him install a shock sensor that triggers the lighting circuit making the factory alarm think the doors are open sounding the horn & lights.
Also had him pull the OEM red door lights replacing them with Brite Blue LEDS, another LED on top of the dash.
Any deterrent is a good one in my book.

My red LED door lights don't flash when the alarm is set.
In fact, what are the red LED door lights for anyways?

It's the red reflectors near the bottom of door panels.
