So....how many tickets have you recieved in your Vette. I`ve always told myself, If I ever get one, She goes up for sale(knock on wood). So far,So lucky
Zero in the Vette. The funny thing is I have got two while driving my v-6 white chevy silverado pick up(work truck). Go figure! Did I deserve them? Yep. Only doing about 5-10 mph over. They must of been really bored.
Been driving Vettes since 1994.
No tickets since other then once a front plate fix it ticket.
All my past tickets were previous in Camaros.
I drive "with purpose" certainly.
Try to keep a sharp eye out, keep my silliness away from other drivers, and do my best not to violate others right of way (being that nobody should have to unreasonably hit their brake because of me or alter their course). I have no radar/laser detector.
I try to remember to read the traffic ahead and behind me.
That will alert you really well to any LEOs that are around.
Spend a goodly amount of my scan looking in the rear view mirror.
i havent gotten any in the vette cause i keep my secret weapon (V1) right under the mirror. I have no radar setup on my R1 so my driving record on that thing is a different story completely...
So you're going to sell your Vette with your first ticket....that seems a bit extreme to me.
While I'm not a Saint, I am a safe driver. I've never been in any accident where I was at-fault and I've received (miracuously) only one speeding ticket in the past 25 years....it happened to be when I was driving the Vette.
Late on a Saturday night, my wife and I were heading home on a semi-rural road....daytime speed limit 40mph/nighttime speed limit 35mph. I was doing 50mph....came around a gradual curve....heard my radar detector go off and saw the cop at the same time. No warning he wrote me up. Frankly, I usually drive my Suburban as fast on that road (as does most everyone else).
When I explained what happened to my policeman friend a few days later, he said most cops would have only given me a warning, however, the cop the got me was a brand-new rookie with nothing better to do. He was looking for drunk drivers. Apparently, many impaired drivers will take this semi-rural road in hopes of avoiding the cops on the busier streets....just my luck.
I opted for 1 day traffic school to have the 'offense' go-away and most importantly....the City got most of the exorbitant fee paid for the traffic school.
None in my vette, yet about twenty(no lie) in my 2000 TA, mainly because it was such an attention getter;long tubes, borla, cam,sc,heads=LOUD. None in any of my 2nd gen TAs and a few in my 3rd Gen Formulas.
I've been stopped once in my C5 (wasn't paying attention - speeding, he let me go) and had to close calls in the C6. I posted this earlier this year -
It's about 85 degrees out tonight so I put the top down in my Corvette and went out for a ride. Cruised around for awhile, did some errands and then jumped on the highway to come home. There wasn't much traffic and there was good music playing so I took the exit for another highway that is good for some slightly faster driving. Went up 2 exits (about 5-6 miles), then turned around to make a good run back. Rowed through the gears and was cruising at a .... slighted elevated speed. I could see for a mile and there was only one car about 1/8 of a mile in front of me so I was ready to roll. Looked in the mirror and saw some headlights at least a half mile back. They looked a little different (yellowish but still bright) and were moving faster than I was (hauling some a**). Well, I was still ready to go but I was wondering about that car. There was nobody else on the road at that point so I figured he might be trying to catch up or was doing what I was about to do. I thought it would probably be good to see what kind of car it was. Possible someone to play with for the next few miles so I slowed to a... slower speed that was still pretty elevated. The car was still coming up fast in the left land and I was ready for some action. Foot on the clutch, hand on the shifter, brain ready to command a fast 4th to 3rd shift. The car went by enough for me to see the words.... State Police . Ruh-Roh... Abort! Abort!!! New command was to quickly shift into 6th and reduce speed to match the sign that says 65. The trooper went up a few car lengths, slide over to my lane and then took the next exit that was coming up. I noticed that he was on and off the brakes quite a bit as he took that exit. That might have been a sign. I was at 65 for the rest of my highway trip.

It seems like I have something about wanting to race state police cars on the highway. Almost the same deal about a year before that. I saw a car coming up fast in the left lane. It was dark and the headlights kind of looked like a Mustang so I was getting ready to play a little. It was like the sun just came out when he got beside me. His side spotlight came on for a few seconds, I waved then slowed down to the speed limit. About 20 seconds later he pulled over something like a Neon.
Again, I drove the speed limit the rest of the night.
I usually don't speed much now. Usually do 65-75 in the 65 zones. I used to get in trouble years ago when I would travel at the same speed but the limit was only 55. It's those late night runs that might get me in trouble someday
Trooper racing....reminds me when I was out for some spirited top speed testing and had a trooper behind me for MILES and didn't know it.155mph+ you kinda keep your eyes on the road and the noise from the headers was the nicest sound ever. I was lucky. He was older and the streets were barren and he like sports cars. Still got a ticket, but got out of it. He said," Man, I'm sure glad you decided to pull over, I thought i was going to have to call in some other boys..." I didn't have the heart(*****) to tell him it was my exit.
