Guys I have a friend of mine who owns a trailblazer SS and he just wont shut up about how fast he is going to get his truck to go the first problem is the vette and the TB have the same engine so he thinks his is just as fast handles just as well and is geared the same. He is really starting to bother me and its like we now have a dispute between the two of us of about whose is faster I have always told him that the Corvette gets looks and is a piece of American History that most people dream of owning some day and that a trailblazer is a truck plain and simple. Now he just sent me a text today that says he is putting on a turbo I will be damned if I go out and put a turbo on my vette just to get him more fired up.
Any suggestions or ammunition I can use would be helpful, see you all on the road
This thread is absolutely hilarious. Although, you need to change the title..... to INSECURITY. And I'm NOT talking about your friend.
Why are you getting your panties in a wad? Because some friend of yours is going to make a turbo TBSS faster than your stock vette? Who cares? It probably WILL be faster than your vette. Why do you feel the need to thow heritage or whatever of the vette into things? They're two completely different cars with different purposes.
Did he ever say anything about the Trailblazer being BETTER than the vette? It doesn't sound like it. He just said faster. If that makes you insecure, that's your problem.
Man all your replies put me in stiches, when he told me this morning to watch out for the grocery getter I just had to reply the vette is used for picking up ***** not groceries it has been for over 50 years. The main problem is that his brother is a gear head also has a 99 transam with all the mods done to it and backs him up, buts its a 99 not a 2005 quite living in the past. I agree once a truck always a truck Its like the old saying you can put a stereo in a pinto but its still a pinto.
I will just work on ignoring his responses he loves my car but I think he just wants what he cant have so go out there and add the turbos I don't care, I own a piece of American History no changing that.
I guess he is opting for a STS turbo that will put him around 12.5 since the vette is 12.9 it should be that much of a difference
I'm getting this visual image of you with your shades on..... shirt half unbuttoned, gold chains hanging out, driving around with the word "***** MOBILE" on the hood of your vette.
You just said, "he loves my car....." So why are you being a jerk and bashing his car?
I seriously seriously doubt he's jealous. If can can afford a brand new Trailblazer SS and a turbo kit, he would have no problem buying a used corvette.
Maybe he just wanted an SUV that hauls people and hauls ***. They serve two completely different purposes. So he's gonna be faster than you..... good for him. That's quite an accomplishment to build an SUV faster than a TRUE SPORTS CAR.
I feel like we're on the playground all over again and he pulled your pig tails.
I think the best thing for me to do is not bust his ***** and just compliment him on his ride. We all know a truck will never be a vette
He just sent me this ridiculous email here is a snippet from it
M3 just ain't a dragster. Where it shines is in the twisties. On a road course they have no problem hanging with a Vette. That is why the suspension felt so stiff when you test drove one, they are set up to corner HARD.
If you want to check out some serious racing videos, go to www.streetfire.net and do a search. There is some wild stuff on there.
Oh, and saw some HP numbers from my turbo setup. 625HP to the wheels or basically the engine is making 780HP (there is a 20% loss through an automatic tranny)
Did you look at those mods I sent you? That exhaust setup I linked you was a killer deal if you want to go that route. The Corsa, Borla, and Magnaflow are all like $1300+ and that doesn't even include headers which would be another $900+. Man, Corvettes ain't cheap to modify! Best bang for you buck is gonna be a Predator tuner.
This is the crap I have to put up with can you say Jealous
Geez, he must be a big jerk to try to offer advice on how to save money on mods. (sarcasm.....)
I'm confused, what exactly is "ridiculous" about that email?
You're right about your first sentence. Just compliment him on his ride and move on. Why the pissing contest?
All that money he invested into the trail blazer and more. He could gotten himself a vette!
And with all the money we spent on our vettes, we could've bought turbo trailblazers...... but we didn't.
When I asked a local car dealer who the heck would buy THAT... (referring to a brightly painted Sunfire with **** carpet all over the interior). He responded, "There's an *** for every seat."
I agree this is becoming very entertaining talking about this I never bought my vette to impress others its just something I have always wanted. he hasnt responded though to my last email he is probably trying to think of something else new to talk about or **** me off about.
I would laugh my *** off if he blew his tranny after installing his turbo.
This post makes me laugh.
If you don't care what others think, then why does this thread exist..... and why are you fighting with your friend over who's car is better?
Don't be a fanboy, be a car enthusiast. Respect a decent ride. I freakin hate it when people get all cocky about their cars and think having a nicer car makes them better or something. I don't mind giving a thumbs up to a decently modified import. It's not something I would personally own, but I can respect another car guy.
You're hoping he blows up his tranny? Some friend you are....
Wow....this thread is still breathing. I think it's already way too late but don't let his problem become yours. Just agree with the guy and tell him how wonderful is SUV is....he will likely move-on. Also, a great feature about email is you don't have to read them or respond.
If your buddy loves his Truck and it makes him feel good to think its on par with your vette, just let him. People hang around others who make them feel good and have similar morals and values. Just pat him on that back and say "Yeah man, thats one awesome truck". Friends are forever....

It reads like an excerp from the book, "how to win friends and influence people."
Unfortunately, in every group of friends, there's always the one guy who HAS to be better than everyone else. Ever seen the comercial, "the one upper?"
You went skiing in Colorado? Well, I went to the Alps..... TWICE!
OK, here's what you do with this guy.
Tell 'em he's right about EVERYthing, your C6 is a garbage skowl.
Ask if if he'd consider [i]trading you your Vette for his truck[i] and see what he says.
You won't hear anymore bullcocka outa the guy, he'll figure it out.
How about some facts (following is from thecarconnection.com):
"Sadly, that fine engine is saddled with an awful transmission - an ancient four-speed automatic that offers no manual shifting and the electronic sophistication of a lightbulb. Kickdown is reasonably quick but it's anything but smooth and because it has been programmed to be as economical as possible, it's far to eager to jump back into top gear again making it impossible to enjoy the SS on any kind of a challenging road."
Odd. I've never seen a 4L60 that didn't have a full shift quadrant. Perhaps the reviewer didn't understand the 3-2-1 below the 'D' on the shift quadrant.
Sounds like something you'd hear from a fat, bald, middle-aged guy who is overcompensating for his small ***** and mid-life crisis with a Vette and a gold-chain collection that would make Mr. T. envious. :o
I cant believe this thread is still here I have congratulated my friend on his ride and he takes a lot of pride in his vehicle as I do mine, Originally this story started out wrong and I was a little out of line as was my friend and we are now better for it happening.
He did put the turbo in and the truck pulls real hard but he is having a problem with the tuning which I hope he fixes soon, I didnt buy my car though to say its faster than yours I bought it because I have always wanted a vette
Its kind of like this the other night I saw a ferrari boxster on appraise my car and its slower than a vette but its a ferrari and I would still want the ferrari but if I saw the owner I would give him props for owning this car not tell him mine is faster than his.
I am just glad now this story is water under the bridge
